What i think happened. You had a loose bolt in the housing or had a bolt back out in the housing. When you drove the car, the movement of the car pushed the bolt into a moving parts and it was pushed out of the way and into the housing. I would guess it is lurking in the housing waiting to make a repeat performance.

It does seem that it's what happen. If the cam tower and lifters is all I have to replace, I'll be ok.

Just put a lot of work into this car the last few months. very depressing.

Remember you can count up all the atta boys, but it only takes one Ah **** to wipe them all out. Sad lesson learned the hard way. Check and recheck before you buttom something up.

Best of luck,
Larry

Those vacuum T`s you got there are no good btw(on the blue hoses in the second picture). I had one like that "with threaded nipples" I was leaking badly after a few days use. Either replace those or seal the threads with blue locktite.

It is amazing that there is a eBay item that looks just like that. I wonder if there is any magnesium in those parts.

this can happen when the one of the inner six cam tower bolts sneaks away from you and finds a nice home inside the corner of the housing, and when everything is just right, the cam picks it up and trashes the housing. When breaking in your NEW engine, turn the boost down and do a proper break in right away, especially if you replaced your piston rings.

Engine runs ok but leaking obviously from the crack.

I'm soo sad

Looks like you left a nut in your cam housing.

I've done the exact same thing, but it looked like a 30-6 round was fired below the cover....oil everywhere. No damage to the motor. New cam housing and all was good.

I was only 1/2 mile from home so the mess was small

Hopefully Lart is including the cam - that's probably toast, too (damaged lobe).
