I haven't been all that happy with this LR gasket on my engine. I've got oil seeping out of the head/cam tower seam all the way around since my rebuild. I've re-torqued it a couple times, even increasing torque a bit to be sure. Still seeps out both on the intake and the exhaust side... a tiny bit all the way around.

Bought my rebuild stuff from lindsey and my cam tower gasket as been leaking as well. I did everything as you should and it still has an annoying leak. The back of the block on the passenger side feels permanently greasy.
That doesn't bug me as much as my leaking rms...

Well.... The cam tower is leaking from two spots now. I'm tearing it apart to replace the gasket with an OME one.
Very disappointed in the LR gasket!!!

A friend did a side by side comparison of the Victor Reinz gasket vs. the official dealer gasket and he swears the factory gasket it thicker. I haven't seen it myself yet, but will try to get him to post pictures.

One word guys MLS, never mind I just noticed that it's the cam gasket that is leaking

There was a thread on here where a few people posted experiences with that rubber coated gasket from LR. The general consensus was it leaked for pretty much everyone.. the gasket was not made to seal better than stock. Like Brian said, LR mentioned it was originally made for cars running a solid lifter cam. My car had a freshly milled head (on cam side) but not the cam tower.. it still leaked. I think decking both mating surfaces is a requirement. OE is fine in my opinion.. i only bought that gasket thinking it would seal better than stock like you.. unfortunately it was after the fact that the thread with everyone's experiences came up. Would have saved me $50 and having to pull the timing belt and cam tower off again after running my engine for all of 5 minutes in the garage.
Luckily i have a WorldPac parts supply warehouse about 10 minutes from my house and that gasket is stocked.. i would have been pissed if i needed to wait another 3-4 days for $10 gasket.
If you redo your RMS, i recommend using the Elring seal. Also i have the factory RMS arbor press for installing the RMS. If you want PM me and you can borrow it.
Edit - here is the thread https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...ght=cam+gasket

I always put a bit of Permatex on the stock gasket (both sides) around the oil hole in the back. Since I have been doing that , no more leaks on the cam tower.
