Can this turbo be saved w/ new compressor wheel?
<----
Standard K26/6 on a 1987 951 motor. I bought the whole motor but the head is off the block. Cylinder walls don't look bad, minor scratches if anything. Might take it to SFR to see if they can re-condition them. No intercooler, but I imagine it is wasted with turbo shrapnel.
Story is a 13mm bolt somewhere came loose and the compressor wheel ate it. I can get another compressor wheel and housing if needed pretty easily, but it's unlikely that the new assembly would be in balance.
Is this turbo worth saving, or should I clean it up and use it as a paperweight?

IMO i'll put it this way
- It doesn't make that much power, just drops of at 6000rpm to 12 psi.
- fixing it (back to a k26/6) won't be worth it, But you could use it as a k27/6 if you get a k27 front housing and turbine
- retro fitting a gt compressor wheel would be pointless since the biggest drawback is the #6 rear housing which causes to much back pressure.
Use it as a paperweight imo.

Three Wheelin'
$50-75 tops. The buyer would really only be paying for the CHRA, most everything else would be scrapped, modified or replaced during a rebuild/hybrid build with the exception of maybe the turbine wheel (depends on the build).
