Post How Much Boost Are You Running?

Im just curious at how much boost are our cars are running. Mine Seems a little low. I am running about 14 psi with Huntley Stage 3 MAF, Stage 2 performance chips, free flow exhaust, lindsey boost enhancer, shimmed wastegate, remote crankcase breather, ignition upgrade and a rebuilt turbo.

I took off the boost enhancer and I was only running 12 psi full throttle. I went through all of my vacuum hoses ect... and didnt find any leaks.

Any ideas?

I'm set up for 15 psi peak, but I only see that in 4th and 5th gear. I get slightly less, about 14 psi, in 2nd and 3rd. I run the stock K26/8 with a shimmed wastegate.

Normal for the 86 is 12 psi and you can get up to 15 with the LBE depending on condition of the car. Since you have the shimmed wastegate and the boost enhancer you MAY have a small leak somewhere but I doubt it.

Shortyboy, the stock turbo is capable of 25psi+ of boost...that doesn't mean you're actually making more power at those levels though. Or that its anywhere near safe.

I run between 15psi and 18psi. With the stock k26 turbo the boost falls off to about 12psi near redline. Oh, and I'm changing my headgasket, big surprise.

After the headgasket and hopefully minor engine overhaul, I'll probably run the same unless I can find a deal on a bigger turbo. In that case, I would back down to about 15psi and still make more HP, but now all the way to redline.

Water injection is installed and ready to roll.

Low boost 1s approx. 10 lbs., for pump gas.
Med. is now 17.5.
High is 19-20. I'm trying not to use this much. That's why I raised med.
Med. & High Sunoco GT-Plus only.

What I picked up my car it was running 22-25#'s. I immediately asked the seller to show me how to turn it down. I run around 17# now. On another thread everone said I was crazy and would melt pistons. We have the head off now and the cylinder's and head itself look gorgeous considering the 100k+ miles on it. The turbo is also solid and it showing no signs of going. I'll probably play w/20 something again soon. I just need a limited slip now to get off the corners better.
