Cool Just bought a turbo 951

I just got a 1986 silver 951 turbo. It runs good, but of course before i can spool it up,
i found an injector leak. I took off the fuel rail, I'm waiting on parts.
Next item, the fuel line coming from the tank gig with the lame lookin pressure
fitting looks weak. I think that is the foremost WORST design for fuel line placement than any car I've seen. RIght over the headers, with a presure fitting?? Gimme a break. I hope you agree, this is my first post to this list. How do you bypass that presure fitting safely, is there a kit?
I'm looking to make this car not catch on fire while I restore all the engine parts.
thanks

Dave

Before you start fixing Porsche's flaws...call it the right thing.
951 = 944 turbo
951 turbo = a wat?

Anyhew...I know there was a recall or somethin like that for that fuel line...for that exact reason...however they simply modified the line, they didnt change its placement.
The stories I've read about 944 engines catching on fire were all related to that line...but only if the update wasn't done OR the fuel lines were in real poor shape...

So when i said 951 turbo, I was really
saying 944 turbo turbo? Wow, i guess i better
read up on my turbo'esque. Like I just bought this car off Rodney Dangerfield and maybe the laughing gas was still hooked up. Does anyone know what an SR20DET is also called then? How about a link to the fuel line fitting problem ?

What do you mean by 'also called'?

An SR20DET can be found in a Nissan 200SX (Think you call them 240 SX in USA), also can be found in Nissan Sunny/Pulsar GTIR. It's a 1998cc (2.0 Litre) Twin-Over-Head-Cam, 16V, 4 cylinder turbocharged engine.

Is that what you meant?

Yes.. get Tim's braided lines. Pretty easy install, and I feel a lot safer with them.

you can tell if you have the up-dated repacement hose if it has three crimps in the metal part to hold the hose very tight instead of two. I have never heard of a fire on these cars personaly.
