Default LR65 turbo question

i just rebuilt the motor and bought new turbo, intercooler and other modds. i just got my m-tune and when installing it i spun the turbo and it felt really tight. I haven't driven the car yet because i was saving for my m-tune but i did let the car idle twice a week. is this normal for these garrett turbos? my evo has a ball bearing turbo and spins very easily.

then it might be tight due to it being a friction bearing and not a ball bearing.... I have installed turbos on car that are tight and some take a lil effort to spin but on the car once it has some time on them they work with no problems... and I work a dealership....
I just got a k27-29#8 with 5k on it from a fellow RL'er and its pretty tight too....

It is probably due to the cold and the oil sitting on the bearings. If you are only idling it once in awhile the turbine shaft is probably not moving much. You may need to warm it up, drive it and get into boost a little and then check it. If its still tight then you have a problem.

It may even be assembly lube in there, so it'll feel tight. I remember when I installed my Super 53, it felt tight too, but it's running great. I haven't checked it since installing and it's probably got 3,000 miles on it now... I bet it's spinning nice and free now.

Our 360 bearing turbo's are built with a assembly grease not knowing how long they will sit on our shelf, the customers garage, or if they will see oil right away on start up.
