You might be having in mind the pictures of the early downpipe I posted on the PCGB forum?

To be honest I have never ever seen another single wall OEM downpipe apart from this one. It may be extremely rare - some of the most knowledgeable people in the German crowd I know of have expressed interest in buying it from me.

It was those pics Thom, no wonder I haven't found one, another option is to cut, gut and reweld a normal discharge pipe.

I've posted a few times on this. The transition to cast rods on the model year '89 turbos was in cars built sometime in December 1988. These later '89 turbo cars also lack the front plastic brake cooling ducts that fit to the bumper cover and have smaller 16mm rear sway bars.
Milledge also said that the early NA 944 forged rods were inferior to the turbo forged rods. Early '83 engines and some '84 automatic engines had forged CROSS-drilled crankshafts from the factory! 968 engines have two versions of lightweight forged rods.

The Fabspeed one is a pretty good option...

Yes but I'm a fabricator welder and I'm also tight , I wont bother unless I upgrade the turbo though.

Fair enough I still have the original factory downpipe off mine if you want one to gut.

Thanks I'll bear it in mind, I'd have to make a jig so the orientation and length is maintained, and depending how good the weld is inside the flange that may be a pita to cut through, another problem may be not being able to get the inside tube out without scrapping the outer one.

OK, maybe someone here (Lart) can tell me which year 951 forged rods will work in a 1992 "968". I have a locked up engine to tear apart to find out what is wrong inside it. I hope for the best, but expect the worse. The 92 968 had poor rods as most people already know. I know the engine is not hydro locked. Any help is most appreciated.

They are all the same length. You can use any year forged rod.
