Is 2-3 bar oil pressure to low?
I put a new head on and started it up. The car has been smoking from what oil fell on the exhaust during the job and the the lifters are making a racket(assuming that they are refilling). My only concern at this point is the some what lower oil pressure that what it ran before the work. Was around 4-5 and as the title says, its closer to 2-3. Any clue what could be the problem?

sorry I meant 15-w40(still a little light)... been an odd day and I blame the typo on that. Thanks for the advice. I am tempted to just drive an see what the pressure will be like but dont want to damage the engine.

Also, did you undo the main crank bolt to replace belts while you were in there? It needs to be torqued properly and the pulleys need to be on right to get full pressure. 2-3 bar at idle is ok when fully warmed up, but if that's all you have when cold, that's lower than normal.

The check valve was not messed with(dont have any reason to suspect it, but definitely not ruling it out). Tomorrow I will check the torque again, maybe this time with a different wrench, and see if its on. I will do the same with the belts/pulleys. Thanks for the help guys.

I looked back at older post. Apparently there is a valve in the head that prevents oil from dropping back out of the head after the engine is turned off.

idk you tell me if this is something I should suspect. My lifters are very noisy but I just think they need some more running time to fill. Just want to make sure that I have proper oil pressure before I do that.
