Post Vitesse Stage 3 - 446rwhp

Another good day at the dyno. Few 951 owners showed up, it was fun.

I finally had a chance to test my stage 3 setup. I still have some tuning to do, the A/F is still a bit rich, but so far I'm pleased with the results. I think there is more power to be made.
The following display is for the HP. Torque is a bit higher. The AF was steady, just a horizontal line. The guys at the dyno took few picturs, I'm sure they'll share soon.

Once testing is complete, I'll post the final results with the mods to the car.

While at the dyno, I tried my custom tuned chips on a car equiped with a digital MAF. We set the calibration to 0. With my chips the car picked up about 20lb of torque at the wheel, the AF was a bit rich so more could be made. We ran out of time, so we'll continue this test later.

Boost was at 22 or 23. I did a run at 26psi

At 18-19psi I was around 380-390rwhp.

Not bad for a 2.5L engine, with stock internals!!

That's the best looking horsepower curve I've ever seen from a 944 Turbo. Looks like you're onto something here. Congrats!

That's amazing. I am guessing you were using at least 110 octane?

thanks ken

That's gotta be a T61. I knew it would spool. Is that in a T housing or a T4 housing. What manifold is the guy using? GOtta see some pics of that.

Excellent, turbo honda HP, with TQ!!!!

Few more things to add....

All parts on the stage 3 are bolt-on. Turbo is a direct fit, MAF, PB, chips, injectors...

The turbo is a direct fit to stock location. I use 100 octane unleaded. However the fuel is over a year old (in the tank). I'm not sure if the age affected the octane rating.
I can hit full boost (even 26psi) between 3700-3900rpm. I think I can bring it down further...

The car I tested has a dual port WG, with a manual boost controller. An upgraded fuel pump, an adjustable fuel regulator. The intercooler is 1.4x the size of a stock one (stock cores welded together). I didn't see much gain with the larger intercooler. This might be due to the air flow at the dyno? I think it'll make a bigger difference under race conditions.
The dyno run was made on 285/30-18 tires.

The intake manifold is the stock one, but I had it reworked to equalize the flow across the runners. I'm designing a new intake manifold, with equal length runners. The length of the runner will be adjustable!
The intake manifold did not yield any power gain, but I feel better not having #4 run lean.

I'm trying a new cyl. head that uses a different valves size.
The head makes a difference, maybe around 10% gain.. Didn't do a before or after test on this item, so it's an estimate based on comparing results with other cars we tested.

I was using the 75# injectors, and I'm in the process of redoing the chips. So far, I got the WOT almost perfect. IDLE & Part throttle are 80% there, and will continue the development this week.

While doing the coding for the 75#, I went ahead and made some changes to the 55# chips, and this will be a free upgrade to the guys with Vitesse MAF kit. Tuning the car for 55# injectors was done with the PiggyBack, so I incorporated the changes into the chips. This will save tuning time in the field.

Few questions I would like to answer:

Who was at the dyno? I'll let the guys answer this, if the wish.

Would I use this setup on the street? Yes, but will keep the boost down to 15-16psi.

Do I plan on offering this kit for street driven cars? I haven't decided yet. I need to perfect the PT operation with the larger 75# injectors.
For now, I recommend stage I & II.

Future plans? Customer support is priority #1. Chip development is an ongoing process, completing the 75# curves is next.
I'm working on a water injection system. I'm also in the process of building a 3.0L engine, experimenting with few things to keep the cost as low as possible. Area I'm looking into (crank, rods & pistons).

Please do not ask me to provide detailed specs. I willingly provide as much information as I can.

Can we see a pic of a stage one or two installed? An engine bay shot? I hate to be aesthetically-motivated, but I need to see what my engine bay is going to look like!
