Fast,

I did not think you were reffering to us/SFR when you said Tuner X. I was just having a little fun since it is Easter. I think everyone should lighten up a bit. Enjoy the holiday, be safe and take care.

TonyG,

I'll try to address your turbo issue as briefly as possible.

In an earlier post, I displayed a Turbo map graph with few colored points on it. Based on your engine size (2.5l), "estimated" volumetric efficiency, "estimated" intercooler efficiency, and based on the boost level (15 psi) that you want to run. I think the 60-1 is not the best turbo for your application. Also, if you think that the turbine wheel on your turbo matches the turbine wheel on the picture I posted, then that could be the cause as well. The turbo I displayed is for a much larger engine.

Turbo MAPS are for ideal conditions, which is never the case in real life. So The MAP is an indication of how close to the sweet spot of the turbo (area of highest efficiency) you are. at 6500rpm you were getting closer to the sweet spot. However you were not close at lower RPMs.

As you already know, when you are running in less efficient areas of the turbo, your compressed air is overheated. This will cause all kind of problems that you have to overcome.

I'm not sure if this is the type of information you were requesting, I hope it's of some use to you.

So what would be your recommendation on the turbo?

If the 60-1HiFi isn't it, then what is?

Tony,

I can tell you that with my 2.5L at 347 rwhp , that my 60-1/#8 hot side is not in the efficiency range at 14 lbs of boost. Granted I have larger intercooler .. I need to be at least at 18lbs before it starts to work properly.

And by the way.... for those interested...

I met with Kurt (86944turbo) yesterday at my house (3.1L full Milledge motor). A great guy, and a true Porsche nut for sure.

We went on my test circuit for a drive. One word: WOW

WOW by my standards and I've had some pretty damn fast cars.

That ***** pulls!

The amazing thing was how smoooooth it pulled. That thing was pulling good off boost to (much better than I would have expected).

It boosted pretty early too... like around 3500, it was making full boost and tons of power.

It seem like anywhere in the powerband, it just flat out haulled ***!

It's the fasted 951 I've ever ridden in by a pretty good margin.

It ran so good, that the rest of the car just couldn't compare. Oh did I say couldn't compare? Yes. And I would have to say that the whole vehicle is PERFECT. Beautiful paint and interior etc... And... another little tid bit.... it has a 968 6 speed. A very nice car for sure.

But nice interior/exterior or not... that car is ALL MOTOR.

:-0

Now all I need is a 3.1L short block mu ha ha

86944turbo,
What intercooler are you using and what does JME recommend? If your using the stock intercooler with the water spray can you let us know how it is working out for you and do you recommend it.

944turbo,
What intercooler are you using?

944turbo,
I think blitz951 was asking 86944turbo. He was talking about spraying on the outside of his intercooler. I would ask, does any of that water/mix get into the engine compartment?

But, 944turbo now that you mention it...I didn't know Lindsey had a stage 5. Did you go with the snout-look nose panel? The dyno on the website is interesting and suprizingly close to your dyno. 13hp increase just sitting still on a dyno is impressive.
