cluth pedal vibration & shifter, might not be related
have any of you experienced rough cluth vibration upon dissengagement of gears?I also have shifter vibration but doubt that they're related..I have a bad axle that bangs around but this is not related to wheel speed..the vibs.I mean. By the way my first message HELLO EVERYONE! <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />

welcome to rennlist!!
I used to have the shifter vibration problem, ended up being a worn throw-out bearing. I just drove it that way until I needed a clutch job, then had it replaced.
Interestingly enough, now with my new clutch I have the same problem as you - a vibration in my clutch pedal when I'm depressing it, especially from high speed. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's a bit annoying. I've been told that the problem is the sleeve that the throw-out bearing runs in, it needs to be replaced. I guess my mechanic didn't replace it when he installed the new bearing.

Thanks IanM..my pedal also vibrates only at high speed under load...now if I could find out what starts cooking that rotten egg in my exhaust when I try to go fast..I'm guessing since my manifold is cracked the air to fuel ratio gets thrown off B4 it gets to the O2 sensor therefore enriching the mixture..(my I just bought this car three weeks ago guess). I love my 95 944na so much I had to get a Turbo.

Guys,
Have either of you recently had a clutch job done? Like in the last12-18 months. I had the same problem about 2 yrs ago after doing my clutch. Apparently, Sachs made some sort of change to the release bearing that would allow it to "wobble" on the guide tube. This is the vibration your feeling when depressing the pedal. It's my understanding that Porsche now has an updated release bearing. I'll see if I can remember to get the part number tonight. And you'll have to replace the guide tube. Mine was severely chewed up.

Slevy951, I did my clutch in my 85 944n/a, replaced it with the rubber type and it hasnt caused me any problems, and I drive the hell out of this car,( about 700 miles a week) very reliable car. Not too smart to drive this much on a car that is so expensive to fix, but my addiction led me to buy a turbo for a toy and will be getting a friends 97 tacoma for comute.

No hard vibrations here. But, when im sitting at a light in first with the clutch depressed, I feel a sort of tapping in the pedal. Its not too hard but I can still feel it with larger shoes as well.

I am not experiencing the pedal vibration, but I do have a strange vibration in the shifter which I have not been able to trace down yet. It only shows up in 2nd and especially 4th gear. Any one have any ideas?
