Default Increasing Injector Resistance on S2

There is the perception that you cannot run lower resistance injectors on the 951 because of risk of overdriving the DME through higher current.

I want to run turbo injectors on my S2 (along with a supercharger). The S2 injectors are about 2.5 ohms vs the 951 4.5 ohms. I assume that there would not be a problem with increasing resistance?

Thanks

With appropriate tuning you should have no issues. The turbo injectors aren't really all that big, depending on how much power you're putting down you may want to look into 55#ers. The stock turbo injectors should be good until 300 crank hp.

Changing the impedance of your injectors will throw off your DME tuning, since the higher impedance will make your car run lean without the proper tuning.

If you are concerned with using the oddball resistance turbo injectors you could use the ford brown tops. They are very close to the same flow as the 951 injectors but are a 2.8 ohm resistance.

I am not well versed in the why's but I am currently running high impedance injectors (rogues injectors) rather than the usual route of the peak hold variety and I can say my car has never ran so smooth. From my limited understanding it is easier on the dme injector drivers.

So Rogue uses injectors with around 14 ohm resistance without any modifications to the electrics?

Do you have a Manufacturers part no for the Ford injectors?

Thanks

Yes without any mods.

I had a part number years ago when I used them in my supercharged car. You can look back at some of my threads on pelican or ask Spencer Aka v2rocket......

They came stock on ford supercoupes.

Sorry to highjack a thread, but is there any positive proof that running the 55# injectors on a 951 kills the DME? I have read many posts about this and seamed to be 50/50. My mechanic did not install the resistors that I suppplied him. Said they weren't necessary. Car is running fine, but don't want to blow anything up.

So the consensus is you can run injectors with higher resistance without issue, but the other way round may (?) cause problems. I could therefore run the turbo injectors without problem. Estimate flywheel hp is around 300bhp. I have calculated that the injectors would be running at around 90% duty with this output.

Joshua:

Thanks for the link, sounds like I will be installing the resistors if I ever get home from this business trip. Been gone for a month now and have to go to Thailand next week for another month. At least the car is just sitting, can't blow anything up that way. Sending E-mail now.

You mean 86-88 Turbocoupes.... as well as the later (86) SVO Mustangs.

Are the Ford ones made by Bosch or a copy?

Yes those are the ones. I just looked at a set I had in my old project car and they are the e5ze designation. They are bosch used in the fords. I may have been mistaken about what they came off of, I think that's (supercoupe) what my supercharger came off of IIRC.

These injectors were a direct drop in with little to no tuning needed in my 951.

Yes, they are Bosch injectors. I'm not sure if they came in supercoupes or not (certainly possible, Ford is known for raiding their parts bins for things like this), but I am positive they came in turbocoupes
