O2 sensor/AFM readings?

O2 sensor/AFM readings?
I have been running alot of 110/116 racing fuel off-road. I have never heard any pinging with this set-up, however I have noticed that my AFM is not reading slightly rich anymore(running the VP 116 leaded) at full throttle (20 psi). Could this be caused by the O2 sensor getting dirty from the leaded fuel? Wouldn't that cause the meter to read slightly leaner than what the mixture actually is? The ads say replace your dirty O2 to get better mpg! What was the cheaper ford replacement O2 sensor?
Thanks,
Paul

I thought leaded fuels were bad for O2 sensors?
I use unleaded VP Motorsport 103, and not a hint of ping at 20psi. The AFM readings were not affected either.

Rage,
Yes, I know leaded fuels are bad for O2 sensors. In Phx. 100 octane unleaded is only avail. in the summer at the pump. Which is what I normally fill up with. In the winter you can't get it at the pump, but I can buy Un.76 110 leaded or VP 116 in 5 gallon cans and mix 50/50 w/91 octane cuts the cost from 5.69 gal. in 1/2. Plus less chance of detonation. I've done this for to 2years w/o any problem, but after running the VP 116(first time straight- remember dyno-day) it seems the AFM is reading a little less rich at full throttle. I just wanted to make sure I was correct that at full throttle the O2 senser has nothing to do with a/f. But that the slightly leaner mixture reading at full throttle could be acounted for by the O2 sensor(dirty?). I will check the mixture on the dyno sat. morn at Technodyne dyno day. Also, I remember there is a Ford O2 sensor that is the same as ours, but, alot cheaper. I had to format my HD and lost the P# that I had saved from a previous post.

Great info, thanks! I'm looking into making my own "rocket fuel" with a few DSM and turbo Honda friends. I've been reading Danno's rocket fuel page on his site (http://members.rennlist.com/951_race...etFuelFAQ.html) regarding the use of toluene and am very interested in mixing my own brew. That VP 103 stuff is expensive up here, CDN$10 a gallon! I may start looking into mixing some leaded racing fuel, that would definately cut costs down. Pure toluene seems a bit tough to locate.
You're very lucky to get such good grade at regular pumps. We're stuck with 91 octane on pretty much all stations here, except for one that advertises 92 octane, but their gas seems to ping even worse than Shell 91.

Toluene is 114-octane and costs about $5/gallon. Say you make 25/75, 50/50, 75/25 mixtures with 92-octane pump gas in an 18-gallon tank:

- [(4.5 * 114) + (13.5 * 92)] / 18 = 97.5 octane for about $40
- [(9.0 * 114) + (9.0 * 92)] / 18 = 103 octane for about $57
