Pete,
I too have seen pinto or ford 4 cylinder motors make big HP. I know that people have made 700 HP many years ago with these engines. It is true that you can make any car fast and what people dont understand is that the 944T doesnt have the millions of dollars that the Jap cars have in R and D but I am sure that these cars put in with the right engineer/tuner would make major HP.
As for the above statement regarding the supra I gaurentee that with 15 grand(car included) you could get a 2180cc or a 2.4 L air cooled VW Bug that would smoke a supra in the quartermile and I say quartermile because I am not sure they are good for anything else. There are plenty of daily driven VW that run 9's in the quartermile and you dont have to spend 40 grand and go rice I mean race.

Yep,
there's a lot of potential in our engines and it seems that you don't have to invest mega-bucks to dig it out.John's example shows that. It's great that there's a lot of enthusiast who use their own time in research and are also willing to share their achievements with us others!
And,if they get modest amount of money from that it's also OK.Like Danno (and not forgetting Travis) ,who's pricing his products reasonably and giving advise for free!!
Oops...I'm going wide <img border="0" alt="[offtopic]" title="" src="graemlins/offtopic.gif" /> ...
Cheers,Pete
