anyone know how a new vette, 6 speed would fare against a stock 400 hp viper rt/10? not the z06 model vette the regular vette? im curious how they would both do in the quarter mile and to 120 miles per hour, any ideas? my car crushed another 400 hp rt/10 6 speed last week bad from 20 to 120 he was 8 cars or more back, but how about the new 2002 vetts? anr they faster then or same or quicker then the viper?

Hey techart, What modifications do you have on your car? It's sounds like your car is crazy fast! I'm pretty sure the regular 2002 vette is slower than a 400 hp viper. Maybe the zo6 would be close, but not the regular vette.

I ran a buddies Z06 with my 951 having the Huntlet Cheater 2, APE 2 Chips, Stage 3 MAF, Exhaust, 18PSI, and 278hp to the wheels. I did not beat him, but a 20-130 blast left me a little more than 1 car length back. A little more traction on my part would have made it even.
Never run a Viper, but I have driven one. It is a pretty fast car. Do not know an exact comparison, but I think the Viper would win.

The older Vipers were fast, but not as fast as some might think. The Z06 405hp Vette should be able to edge it out slightly. The 450hp and 460hp (ACR) Vipers, those are the ones you have to worry about =).
I've driven a 1st year Viper as well as the Viper ACR, you can definately feel the difference in power. A lot of Viper owners change the rear end too, less top speed and a whole lot more acceleration. Be careful of those guys =).

385hp one, would be even at 12psi pump gas, slaughter him at 20psi 103 octane.
405hp one, would lose at 12psi pump gas, slaughter him at 20psi 103 octane.
Unfortunately, I don't have any friends with a Z06, so it's only bench racing for that car. It's snowing again today, once it clears up, I'll fill up with 103, turn up the boost, and get a Viper ACR kill on video =).
Weather's really terrible here, 2 inches of snow at the end of April. Global warming is a scam I swear =).

Ooh, a Viper kill on video! That should be some fun! ![](http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/jumper.gif)

Yeah, it far from an accepted phenomenon. For as many 'scientists' who say one thing, you'll find just as many that'll say the opposite. I say 'scientists' because they are really expert-witnesses expressing their opinions. And that opinion will vary based upon the agenda and ulterior motives of the organization that hired them.
Here in the sunny Southern California paradise of Santa Barbara, last winter was the coldest since 1956 and we had SNOW for the first time in 30-YEARS!!!

And I even read a story about a global-warming protest that was staged in Chicago. They ended up canceling the rally because they said, 'It was too cold for people to be outside'... heh, heh! That'll teach those tree-hugging, bark-eating, crunchy granola folks! The last thing we need is more disruptive riots like the WTO conference.

We're getting the G8 Summit in 2 months time here... well it's up in Kananaskis, but I heard the protests will be in downtown Calgary, close to where I work. I think I should buy some riot gear =).

Danno that photo reminds me of Santa Barbara airport,,we use to fly in there when I was working for Chevron off Pt Arguela(sp?) just about 5 miles offshore from Vandenberg Air Force Base. It was pretty rich to watch those missles go off at night from the base. Sometimes the pilots who flew us out, use to buzz the dorms at UCSB, the ones that have that Pacific Ocean view.
Anyway, one of the pilots had a 911 Sportomatic, electric clutch thing on the gear shift, that thing was wierd to drive; but I used to drive it through the campus before we flew home. Santa Barbara is beautiful.

Next to work there is a new stretch of road (a dead end at this point), about 4 miles long...anyway ...two cars were having fun... early Viper and a Z06. Call it coincidence or whatever...
The Z06 was outrunning the Viper every time.

The Z06 is not as quick as the 450/460 H/P Vippers. Above 130mph it's very close due to the Vippers aerodynamics (poor c/d and very large frontal area). The old RT-10's ran about 12.8-13.1 @ 110mpg, or so, in the 1/4. The GTS & ACR (450/460 H/P) run very close to 12 flat (12.1-12.2 stock), but there at 118-120 mph. Much quicker than the RT10. The Vipper is still the fastest USA production car and will continue as the 2003/4 model has less weight and 500 H/P. I read somewhere that there going to be using a dry sump...very smart. Hell, a current model is as quick or quicker than Porsche's 415 H/P tt. The Porsche reaches the 1/4 in about the same time due to the launch of a 4wd and rear engined car. At the end of the 1/4 the Vipper is traveling 2-4 mph faster. In fact, I've seen tests of the Viper through the 1/4 at the same speed at a GT2. I'm not a Vipper fan, but they're great cars. Especially when I can incite one to race me. No 800 H/P Hennessey's, please.

Vipers may pull impressive numbers, but what it takes to make them do that and their behavior is anything but user-friendly. I remember a 'best-handling' article with Mario Andretti testing and he ranked the Viper pretty low.

I remember a Car & Driver article where they brough 2 Hennesey Vipers in a 0-150-0 competition. One viper blew up, the other just caught fire <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />
When you say 2002 Corvette, remember that there are 3 different models of non Z06 Corvette.
The Hardtop does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds on a good day
The Convertable 0-60 in 5.2 seconds
The Coupe 0-60 in 4.9 seconds
all out handle and out brake an RT-10.
Also, as Danno noted, there is the driveability factor. The Viper is a handful to drive, without traction control, stability or even ABS. The C5 has all of these. A veteran dragger can get a low 12 out of a ACR. Anyone can get consistent 13s out of a stock C5. Most people in a Viper would burn their tires for several seconds.
