Ya man I agree, when those fans kick on all that hot air goes right into the MAF and the car will stall after 30 sec or so of it. I heard that hot air +maf= lean mixture which would make sense that the hot air told the maf to lean the mixture and it wasn't enough to keep it running. So with a filter on the air would be cooler by the time it hits the sensor. That's my assumption away. I still haven't got a filter one, I'm getting one tomorrow and hopefully will have the Tree Pipe on as well.

General question regarding interpolating power from CFM: Would that be what the engine would be making if it wasn't losing some power parasitically to the waterpump/ps/ac/alt. etc? Would you take like 20-30hp off the top, then calculate the drivetrain loss to get an estimated wheel hp? Am I completely barking up the wrong tree with this train of thought?

I was thinking the same thing. The cfm of the maf shows the air mass but not the true hp result. Only the "potential" result in a perfect situation.

Ok guys here's a current pic of the setup... once I got an air filter on that sucker it now idles excellent and when the fans are on it stays at a smooth idle (stupid hot air). I haven't installed my MAF tree yet, it's an inch short from where I need it to line up with the BOV so hopefully next week it will be on.

BTW I will have parts for sale soon, I havent decided on prices yet:

Lindsey Racing Blue Silicone Jboot-4months old, 3k miles (Got to get my MAF Tree installed first)
2.5 Bar FPR- 8 months old
AFM- 110k miles

It looks like that MAF maybe a bit big to be stealth, but I think it could be done.

This MAF would not be the one to use for a stealth application. The ones Josh uses would be extremely easy if a 3" pipe could be used.

Ya my MAF was suppose to be 90mm... its really 4" but it narrows to a 3.5 in the center. I trimmed off the square mounting bracket to make it easier to install. Once I have the rest of what I need the MAF Tree will be installed so the MAF will be behind the driver headlight. Overall I am very happy, my car runs way better than it did with my previous AFM and chips and under boost I feel way more power.

That looks like a tiny air filter. Is it open on the end or just on the sides?

Ya it is tiny.. I only had like $20 lol... The top is open on it so it gets air from the top and sides.

Which part number is your HFM5 MAF? There are a few different versions, all with different curves.

It´s 0 281 002 421
I think it´s the largest hfm5 and i´m over what bosch have as maximum voltage from it in this pdf
http://www.guzzimental.com/documents...%20Sensors.pdf

1000kg/h at 4.33v

I´m beginning to think that i´m at the limit of my maf.

Bosch says that the tolerance above 4.33v is to big also.

But they use the same sensor in smaller housings up to 5v.
