Question Fuel injector cleaning / flow testing / upgrade

A few questions for those in-the-know:

1. My stock fuel injectors are out of the car at the moment, I'd like to have them cleaned while they are out. Is that something I can/should do, or should I being them to a professional?

2. If I take them somewhere, should I be able to find someone local (Dallas/Fort Worth), or should I send them somewhere? Any specific recommendations?

3. Seems like confirming adequate/equal flow would be a good thing. Should a place that can properly clean them also be able to flow test them?

4. I also have a set of 55# injectors that I picked up used a few years ago from a local racer who is also the service manager at a local Porsche dealer, can I just drop those in, then adjust my adjustable fuel pressure regulator while monitoring/logging AFR via a LM-2 or similar?

5. While we are on the subject, How much horsepower is typically needed before upgrading the fuel pump is necessary?

TIA!

+100 - I've used Witchhunter on several cars over the last 8 years and I'm always amazed at the service, professionalism, and results.

For sure. And their honesty is amazing. I've only sent one set of injectors to them, and sadly the seals inside dried up and they were unusable (hadn't been in a car for 2 years). I got a call from the guy who runs it, and he said he couldn't flow/clean them because they were leaking. asked if I wanted em back, or if he should toss them. Never charged me for anything.

But the professionalism was amazing and next time I have a set that needs cleaning, I'm going there.

zerMATT, witchhunter will flow match them. if your spare set of 55# injectors aren't all dried up like what happened to mine, then you should be good to run em. I don't know if you can just turn up the fuel pressure and be OK, that's something other people will have to answer.

Hmm... didn't think about the dried up situation, I may have that exact problem. I was just reading about proper injector storage techniques on the Witchunter website too and got thinking about my injectors sitting on a shelf in the garage for 5 years.

I am working on my own injector cleaning / flow machine. Its fairly simple device..

The key to good cleaning is good artificial fuel for testing and good injector cleaning solution. I use ASNU 4l fluid.

Another +1 for witchhunter. I've used my fedex account with them and had next day return service from them before, but you need to talk with them in advance if you need it that fast. Great guys to deal with and great service work.
