What's a "motorsports" axle? How is it different from a late model turbo one?

From LR site

"They were created starting with custom internals. For starters, they utilize billet chromoly cages but that's just the start. The cage was redesigned to have a more round opening and not the rectangular style like a factory ones. Then on to the 4340 billet inner races. Another big thing about the race is that they have had the splines punched out from a standard 25 spline to a 36 spline. The center bar is made from 4340 Chromoly and has rolled splines and no stress risers to the inside of the driven part to ensure torsional strength. Top it off with Neo Synthetic grease and vented boots. All this makes this one of the strongest axles on the market today"

Ahh. Thanks! I guess the high horse power crowd needs a lot of those bells and whistles.

Maybe it's just me, but I've blown up two trannies using the same old set of stock axles. Maybe I've had weak near-dead trannies? That's not to say I wouldn't try these next time I need axles...

I thought the general consensus was that the majority of axle failures was due the transaxle flexing/twisting. Either due to a failing mount, or to much HP on the stock mount....

If the 968 axles are "coming very soon", are the 968 axles listed on your website just a placeholder? I mean if I tried to order them right now, would I get a message that they're on backorder or something?

Aren't early halfshafts shorter? Or is this just for the actual CV?

I think i paid $340 for each axle a few years back. These seem to be worth that extra few hundred.

Is that $1200 for a set? Do they come with any type of warranty?

The warranty question is a good one. Ive blown a few of the new Loembro CV's since they seem to be bad from the manufacturer. Got 3 sets recently and all of them were binding from the factory so I sent them all back. The Lindsey ones are 2x as much as the others but to me it might be worth the $$ if they are covered by a warranty.

You car order today on the web site if you want, but we won't be shipping them to you for a week to 10 days. We will charge you when you ship.
