Default Is the 951 a GT car?

What are your opinions on this? I don't see it as one at all, but I was just pondering it for a second. Would you say these cars are nice on long trips?

928 is more a GT car.

The 944 is a sports car.

I am probably the leader in long trips in the 944 (Not bragging). I have driven 1200miles, from Vegas, to Great Falls MT, in one day.... Three 860mile (one way) trips to Denver, Colorado in 2 months time, etc etc etc. I drive the **** out of my car. I think its perfectly comfortable, and a lot of fun to drive on long trips. It cruises at 100 pretty easily (NA takes a while to get there), and gets great gas mileage too.

I actually can't think of another car I would rather drive on long trips (For the cost of a 944 anyway )

agree,a great sports car but I did 18 hour from Vegas to home once and although tired, my back and legs were fine so it's good for a long haul provided your suspension isn't too stiff. One of the guys that used to be on Speed, not sure what show it was but he had it in his top ten cars that he enjoyed driving across Europe.

There's no rule that sports cars can't be good on long trips, but the 4-cylinder Porsches are definitely sports cars, not GTs.

I feel the 951 is more of GT car to me than my old 924S was. My 924S was a little different wasn't in near the shape my 951 one. I think once I get my cruise to work I will see the true potential of the 951 for trips. Man is it more fun to drive.

When I went home for Thanksgiving this year, I drove 732 miles in one day!!!

Car did great, and I even had enough energy to party until 3am that night... I was awake for 24 hours.

I got the same going to Colorado this summer. Flying across the desert in 100+deg heat, AC blasting on high, 90+mph.... 29mpg. Love it!

Best I ever got was 32mpg on a trip to Montana. Fall, so the air temps were cool. No AC, but still 90+mph the entire way. AC counts for 3mpg

I'd say sports car too. Although it is one of the very few small/light sports cars that I fit in at 6'2.

Man, I don't know how some of you guys do it, but after about an hour in those seats my *** goes numb. Not a GT car at all IMO, at least not for me. And I'm no stranger to long trips, once drove from San Diego to Virginia by myself straight, in 42 hours, stopping only for gas 5 times -- the last of which I had to pay in cash because the credit card company froze my account. Does nobody else think the 944 seats are too narrow??

Too noisy and stiff to classify as a GT.

Yes; for my 250 lb frame. Not so bad I can't live with it though.

I'm a little more than 250 right now

When I first got my car, I thought the seats were tight, but I think my *** has worked them out. I can ride for 16 straight hours, and feel fine when I get out.
