Ok, so this is kind of a coming out post. I've been all over the forums/vendor sites for the past 6 months just reading/searching ect...
I bought this car end of May here in 2010, I haven't been able to do anything to it yet since I had to pay for my wedding this past Oct. And it turned out I ended up having to daily drive the car for the past 6 months because my Audi S4 blew a cam adjuster (back of the motor/required motor pull/expensive/ect). I had been tracking the S4 at DE's for the past 4 years and figured it was time to get something dedicated. Tracking a daily driver isn't the most reliable solution and it became too much to deal with, plus it was heavy and slow. So in 2011 I plan to get the suspension in order and try to freshen up the motor to make it track worthy and get it to a couple events at least.
So here's the 89 951 S I purchased for $2500 from a friend who just didn't have the time for it. I got a few extra parts with it also which was a bonus!
Here's the S4

Thanks! The wheels are cut finish. I was given a set of chrome wheels with the car as extras that I unloaded on ebay for $600 (effectively making my purchase under 2K). I was also provided a used but crack free dash replacement and new in the box rear axle shafts. I'm located in Iowa.

Good stuff guys. Keep it coming.
John your project sounds very interesting and I'm sure we all look forward to just what will come out of this dream. One off stuff can go either way but with such a solid base I'm sure your's will be fantastic.
Darwin looks like the Silver Rose beast isn't too far away. Wasn't there a thread about your issue not so long ago? Might be worth a search if you haven't already done so.
RitzB I love Hillclimbs but you have to be careful. Most of ours are held on some normal public road so lots of trees and obstacles. Really have to watch out and not go 10/10ths too soon.
Tom....hmmm, another project. Wonder what this can be???? Always meticulous so this should be good!
Our new German friend above sounds like he's got more than one good project on the go. More pics please 944er-teile.de
There's plenty more out there so keep this thread going a bit more. It's great to read of all these cars around the planet still plugging away and keeping the fires burning. Get more pics and more video, and get out onto the track if you can to enjoy these cars doing what they're great at....beating up on other unsuspecting drivers!

That's great Darwin. Hopefully by the time you're finished the weather you guys have been hammered by is clear enough to drive the car! Looks like it's been a very heavy Winter for our Northern Hemisphere cousins. As for costs...well you will notice the new name of my 'racing team' in my sig. All tongue in cheek of course but, yes, expensive. I don't want to die wondering...
944er, you should do a thread with your cars and projects. I'm sure I speak on behalf of many of us around here when saying that we love to see all the various projects from around the world can be fascinating. Having said that, feel free to toss a few up in this thread too.

Harness and Harness bar
New rod bearings
New knock sensors
Later in 2011/2012
Supercharger for S2

Lexen rear hatch

Same as last year....finish putting together the car and drive it before I decide to buy more stuff for it. If I do anything else it'll be suspension.
Once the 951 is running I can start swapping my AAN into my Coupe Quattro and put the 7A on the stand and build it...and one day put it in the 951...

Eric, which race seat did you wind up buying? Did you manage to find out what offsets those OZ wheels come in? I'm thinking of a new set but can't quite find what I need.
I think the s/c will be great judging by Dubai944's videos!

Race Director
BMW: Going to time trial it next year with NASA so it will get the sparcos from the porsche and a rollbar. Add data acquisition of some sort.
Porsche: Revalve the Bilstein Escorts to something softer and put leather seats back in and enjoy it.

So John, does that bar mean that you have removed the stock alu bumpers permanently? I have been tossing up this idea but having had a few crashes I think I'm going to keep the stock one even though they're pretty heavy. Possibly saved my motor from serious damage in the most recent incident.
I'll be interested to see what you come up with for the dash too. Something unique no doubt. Mine will be pretty prosaic but functional. Amazing how much the stock one and all the heater components and wiring weigh!
