$12k car...in this market?
Yet another victim of our lousy economy, I find myself unemployed for the first time since age 11. Just in time for Christmas, too. With a family to support, I'm seeking to liquify as much capital as possible, which may require the sale of my beloved '86 951.
Originally Judson951's car, which won Best of Show at 944 Fest several years ago, the car remains in spectacular condition. Based on my knowledge of current roadworthy 951's, the condition of my car is a 9/10 (not withstanding my personal bias). It includes several tasteful upgrades, including a cheater K26 turbo, adjustable Koni suspension, Vitesse software, MBC, Tial WG, custom alarm, rebuilt head with WF HG, full 3" exhaust (no cat) and much more. Nearly every part on the car has been upgraded or replaced in the past 24 months. It ripped 296HP and 315 ft/lbs torque on last dyno test (15 PSI), roughly a year ago. Car has barely been driven since. Like many of us here, I have invested well over $25k. I know I can't sell it for anywhere near that amount, but I'm wondering if its possible to get $12k for it.
So, what's constitutes a $12k car...in this market? Or, am I just dreaming?
Car has 92,xxx miles. I will post more pics later this evening.

engine bay picture shots?
It is a 12k car. Not sure what it will sell for. Very clean and nice.
Also having spent 9 months last year working odd jobs / unemployed i know how you feel. Good luck job searching

T-belt/rollers and clutch done in the last year, or so?
75%+ rubber and brakes?
Have all the parts to put it back stock?
Full documented history on the car?
Assuming the above, it's as you describe, and you pulled the sticker off without damage, I'd offer you a solid $10k if the PPI checked out and I hadn't just bought my car. Obviously more if I were local.

If you've got the stock parts, you could start selling the mod/upgrade stuff off on here to raise some quick cash. That stuff never adds to the car what it sells for on its own.
Good luck with the sale.

12k is realistic in this market for that car - with patience - advertise on rennlist, autotrader and pca.org and it will go.
Looks great ! - I especially like the interior color, steering wheel and front spoiler !

Timing is everything, and obviously life asserts its priorities on you, but I wouldn't take a penny less than $12k for the car unless things are so dire that you absolutely have to.
I saw that car at the 944Fest, its everything you described and more, and in the spring time with a better economy, I'd expect it to bring a minimum of $15k.

Gorgeous car, its like seeing an old friend again. I would say its a great deal at 12k. Sorry to hear of the job situation - good luck with finding a new job quickly.

I still remember when I first saw this car over 5 years ago.

It is still one of the nicest 951s I have ever seen in person. Good luck with the sale, sorry to hear about the job situation.
