With comparison I meant between Corleones 8v engine and a more ordinary 3.0l 8v engine.
I don't think I have a useable log on that from my car. But given everything including the high compression the engine response was fantastic.
IMHO the x boost at y rpm comparison is not very usable. The boost transient in time would be a better measurement. I was able to log 1.0 bar at 3400 rpm in 4th gear on my 2.5l with the GT3582R 0.82. It doesn't sound bad but it took a long time for the turbo to get there and it was laggy.
I don't think the 3.0l 16v engine would get to 1.0 bar much before 3400 rpm but it would get there many times faster.

Well, I know that when an engine's response & VE are improved to the levels we are dealing with, such a data is not relevant anymore, as the engine will rev fast enough and the torque will kick in fast enough not to bother about such a consideration.
I was just asking for the sake of comparison since Corleone mentioned these figures.
You sound like you never experienced any compressor surge when you were using your GT3582R on the 2.5, but then I can't help thinking such a large compressor wheel would be happier (as in "more efficient") with a well-breathing top end and an intake tuned for high rpm.

It's a great turbo and suitable for a 450-550 rwhp machine. As you say, it would be good on a 2.5l with an aggressive cam, 4-1 headers, intake, high boost etc.

Thanks! I never ran higher than 17 psi or used E85 with this engine. I had a single 044 pump at the time and it wouldn't had been enough for E85 on the 3l 16v.
Yes GT3582R with T3 0.82 a/r. Unfortunately this engine died an early death on the 3rd shakedown of my race car due to a bearing failure (that's how it goes when you're trying to run high G's without dry sump..).
So I never got the chance to raise the boost or switch fuel or change to a 1.06 a/r turbine. I'm building a new engine 16v engine now that probably will end up a 3.15l. It will get a 1.06 a/r turbine and new 4-1 headers and some other things. Will dyno tune it directly on E85 later on this spring.

Duke, great results. I know exactly how it feels. I put down 509 on an unloaded dyno in 2001. Loaded, I put down my 480whp and 470wtq. But that was at 1.4 bar. I set the bar back then, and now you definitely set the bar. Great results. It has to feel good.
And my motor cost almost $40,000 when it was all done. $30,000 plus incidentals. But it was bullet proof, and it came with a warranty. I wish I could've wrenched on it myself but alas, I don't have the skills. I literally have over $200,000 into my car. This was my fourth motor, and I'm now on my second transmission. It should be here this month. Then for upgrades. I finally chose a tuner, and I hope to help in the work so I can learn a few things. They are certain they can get 650-700whp and similar tq with my motor. There are so many new advances since my motor was built. I have APE chips, stock size exhaust, 52lb injectors and stock intercooler.
You definitely have the fastest 951/968 turbo out there for sure Duke. It was a pleasure watching you get here. Well done. I hope to give you a run in the future. I just wish I had your wrenching skills.

Thanks Joe! Yes knowledge and technology have come a long way since you had your engine built. Which makes your engine even more impressive given the limitations. Looking forward to your new build! Will it built from scratch or will you be reusing most of the parts from the current engine?

I'm going to use as much of my motor as possible. With some great upgrades available now, I hope to be near your power. And I hope to help work on it as well. I also have my five speed rebuilt with every gear set cryo treated and WPC'd. I also have the taller N/A fifth for cruising and top speed. Great job again. That is one hell of a motor!
