My new enemy.
One of my best friends and I, went out and drove around some back roads last week. His car is a 2010 Camaro SS, well long story short he was surprised that I could keep up with him, it surprised me as well. He kept asking what mods it had and I told him just chips and the boost turned up to 17#. Now we didn't do any drag races from a complete stop, just from 30-60mph. Well today he invited me over to do the same, the only problem is he now has this.
Not fair, this thing left me way behind.
So now my plan is to find a way to at least make him sweat a little, I calculated that I need at least 350whp to maybe keep up.

being this is the precursor,
i give it about 18 months to run through the wash cycle.....
and be out of the Porsche 4 cylinder game.
unless you don't mind replacing cheap engines from the junk car swap meet forums,
or you have deep pockets....
but, whatever path you choose,
the end result will be about the same.
even more fun when your oil takes out the Z06 behind you.

A good maf setup and a k27-6 turbo or maybe something a bit bigger along with some injectors and go chase him down! exhaust and a few other items will be mandatory as well. I've had the opportunity to drive a few of the new maro's and I'm surprised how slow they are.

there was a time that a k26 and 16psi of boost was enough to take a camaro, now you will need a T04e 18psi+ maf etc etc and at least 350rwhp some weight reduction and it will be fine.

Camaros weigh 4k lbs. Working on them, only one really worth buying would be the ZL1. Even then it feels like you're driving a Sherman tank. LS3, L99 Camaros are disappointingly slow. However, the same setup in a Vette (LS3), night and day difference and 900 lbs lighter. I wouldn't have one. But, To each their own.

I am a big believer in the 35% rule. A well made car should be able to handle a 35% power increase without problems if they are driven right. Go beyond the 35% and you are asking for problems. I might not beat a new zo6 but I think it is great that I would even be in the game with my 1987 car. I am comfortable with HP of the 35% increase the SC 928 gets me even if it would get beat by the fastest modern cars right now. My car is for my own enjoyement and the enjoyment of giving fun rides to people. Just think of all the things you can enjoy when you are not taking the re-sale hit on a new car. Enjoy your car with a few mods but don't ruin your car trying to play the new car game.

Actually I would not consider what you are doing even a real race. A real race would rely on driving skill and hand eye cordination, not who is stupid enough to abuse the car more or spend the most money.

Hey Chevalo - glad to see you back! It sounds like you'll be starting to make your new car go faster like the white one. Mike & I spent some time tearing the engine down to clean things up and fix some oil leaks - it started to drip from the cam tower to the exhaust pretty bad a month or two after driving it back to DFW. Now the engine is buttoned up with all new seals, o-rings, hoses, belts, rollers, etc, the PS pump is rebuilt, but there is still a PS hose leaking that needs to be tended to, and a fuel line at the back just started to drip.
The K27-6 is almost as strong as my Super-53 (both with M-Tune), but I'm running E85 and a bit more boost, so that could explain it. Your old white car is still running rich and we haven't figured out why yet. I think that Mike will be buying the Rogue Tuning data-logging setup soon to get some more info on that.
My car is down at the moment after spinning a #2 rod bearing. My fresh short block just came back from the machine shop the other day, so hopefully the bottom-end will be as nice as the rest of the motor for a while now.
Hope all is well out your way! You should have hollered when you were in town... we could have tracked down a decent steak at Logan's Roadhouse

Sure you can do a turbo, MAF, exhaust, more boost, etc. and maybe give him a run. Then he tosses a different pulley on the car, puts a different tune in it....
He's going to win on horsepower... that's what those cars are good for. He's got more displacement, not to mention, a much newer motor. The LSx motors are nothing to shake a stick at.
Beat him at an autocross.
