Damn Tony, that sucks. Would be a hell of a steal for someone at 15k since the conversion is already done. There is a lot of be said about having a cheap track car, but at the same time a cup car is where it is at Things are just a bit more expensive then.

I saw your car BTW.
I am in GT2 (in the red race group) where the cars are real fast and the drivers are all good.
My car is the only street legal car in that entire group (with an carpeted interior!) and I'm running Nito NT-01 tires (the only person in that class not on slicks.
On Sat I qualified 16 out of 29 and finished 16th.
On Sun I qualified 13 out of 29 and was up to 9th by lap 3 of the red race when the engine just started loosing power, then out of a slow turn there was no power. I looked down and saw 1 bar of oil pressure. So I just pulled off the track. The engine was making knocking sounds.
I qualified with a 1:49.6
With Hoosier Slicks I could knock at least 2 seconds off that time for sure, if not more.
Anyway... The LS1 is so cheap used, it's not really worth even opening up my engine other than to use the accessories/accessory drive brackets, cam and valve spring/retainers, etc...
The question is do I put in a LS3 or just sell the car as-is and let the new owner put in a LS1 on the cheap or an LS3 and move on to a Cup Car or a 996 spec car (the 996 spec cars were running down in the 1:46's!!!!).

sory Tony me and the green eyed monster i can't sympathize i feel you've already had far to much fun. I would just let the market decide .offer it for sale at 2 or even 3 different prices . what ever you decide to do will be the wrong thing according to the potential buyer ..

If I went LS3 it would be a cam on the large side for sure. In fact... I'd probably just buy a LS3 short block and buy a set of AFR heads to go with a big cam.
I'm just deciding if I want to even mess with it at all. No matter what engine I put in it... it will never win a GT2 class race.
That's why the decision to just sell it as-is is so hard.

Tony,
Sorry to hear the bad news about your Hot Rod. You have been a great inspiration and resource for all of us 944/V8 conversion guys. Go with the LS3. With Hoosier slicks and a LS3/Hot cam motor you could be in the 1:45's
