Well gents, my number came up this morning. Driving through an intersection and an elderly lady turned left in front of me just as I reached the intersection. Tried to avoid her by veering right but I don't think she ever touched her brakes or saw me.
Good news is that I'm fine but I'm fairly sure the car is a write off.
Questions:
1) I have the option of pursuing this through my insurance rather than directly with hers. I chose to work with my insurance but wondering if anyone has any experience otherwise?
2) K27/6, MAF, sport seats, leather dash, EBC, motor, splitter, fancy *** shift ****, etc., etc., etc. are all intact. I'm unlikely to get fair value for these, is my only choice to buy the shell back?
3) Any other advice?
Please join me in a moment of silence for the passing of a good one....

Sorry to hear that, she was indeed a good one. I would definitely be buying the shell back, no question.
Going to get another and do some transplant work?
Sorry again, glad you are OK.

Buy the shell, strip the good stuff off, and recycle it. it was a good call getting your insurance involved because it gives you an additional level of protection. they will fight to help you get what you need (in theory).

Sorry to hear that, I hate drivers who change lanes without looking.
Looks like you need a front passenger suspension assembly, one new wheel, and this. Depending on how much the insurance values your car at, you could actually make a profit off this (assuming you value your time and effort at, well, nothing...)

I get scared every time one of these posts come up as that could have been me. I feel your pain. these cars just get more rare every day. Glad your ok. Its a shame since your 951 was in great condition and I always loved your interior.

Oh, man...I am sorry to hear the news. The interior of your car was one of the cleanest I've seen...If you decided to part it, I'll take first dibs on the steering wheel.

Greg, I'm incredibly sorry to hear this bad news. Its obvious that you greatly cared for this car and invested my hours and money into her. If it was a stock 951, I'd let it go, however your car has one of the best interiors I've ever seen in a 944. I think that you should pursue the other party's insurance who will look at the 951 market in your region to get a value, which is going to be pretty.

It really sucks that the car got wasted, glad to hear that you are ok. Buy it back, strip it and either sell the parts or transplant them to another. I got dibs on the MAF and splitter if you part it out.

Ouch, that sucks man.
The real crime here would be if you don't transplant that beautiful interior into another equally beautiful body. (Though that euro bumper seems to have miraculously dodged the crash, and it's in my car's color... just sayin'
