Default BOV vs. Diverter valve

Give me some pros and cons of each. My diverter valve is bad so it looks like its time for an upgrade of some sort. BTW isn't a BOV better than a Diverter valve like when it comes to higher boost?

IF you are using a stock ECU then you have to stick with a diverter valve. If you were to use a BOV on the IC pipe you will loose the metered air that has come in via your AFM or MAF. Making the car run extra rich when it blows off.

Best to stick with an aftermarket diverter valve, Lindsey Racing sells a nice adjustable or non-adj. billet one that is better than stock and last longer from what I have read.

Good luck..

Could I get one off of ebay for a Audi 1.8 Turbo? Is it the same size.

Why? I would stick with something new, yeah maybe a little bit more money, but it will last a lot longer.

See the last page in your previous post. DivineE's post wit large picture .

It would be new just wondering if they are the same size. They are much more common. I hate telling someone I drive a porsche and the same part will twice as expensive as say a VW or Audi.

or one of these
you can change these around, so you can just have a By Pass Valve with out the trumpet, or you can have 2 trumpets or you can just have the trumpet with nothing on the other side.

Yes the 1.8t unit is the same size/fitment, so is the audi 2.7bi turbo and the 993 turbo but they both use two. The 1.8t is the same poor quality plastic part and will start to fail again quite quickly. The 993 tt part is reputably slightly better and has a metal piston inside. The Forge unit I suggested is about the same price if not slightly cheaper than that and far tougher. Honestly value for money the better quality item will save you more money than searching ebay for leaky ex 1.8t vw/audi units.

I know someone who has a forge or replica I believe for a 1.8 Turbo that is why I ask. Its only $10. It will work better than my broken stock one.

Get and evoMS or a forge diverter valve. Do not replace the valve with an oem valve of any type, it will just fail again. Porsche, VW, and audi have been using these stupid plastic/rubber valves in everything for years and still haven't figured it out.......

I use a Forge in my Audi, and the same one in my 951. Install one, and you'll probably never think of it again. I got the one for the 951 used, for about the cost of a tank of gas.

By the way, I would be surprised if your rich condition were being caused by bad the diverter valve, so if your main goal is still fixing that, you can probably do okay on the bad valve for a while. If anyone has experience to the contrary, though, please chime in!

I have a huge vacuum leak because of the diverter valve. My FPR is most likely bad as well though since my car's fuel pump sounds like a dieing cat. I have since stopped driving it. I am picking up a brand new FPR and I will picking up a new diverter valve (aftermarket) and hopefully I will expierence full boost for the first time.
