LR's billet bypass valve makes a nice whippling sound if you have a MAF kit. If you still have the stock rubber j-boot/afm setup, it's silent. And i think pretty much every other diverter valve is silent with it as well, unless you go to an atmospheric blow off.

How did I wind up up on the "faster and furiouser" board? We are talking about BOV sounds? Seriously?
+1 for Forge, mine has worked great for the last 6 years or so.

'gotta look cool'
adam will like this one,
- Block the bov, and put a 17cm long 2.5" pipe with mesh on the end (to the turbo).
This gives the classic loud as all f**k high pitched, screaming, perfectly defined 'dose'... It's the muztek classic, as i like to call it.

By the way, I would be surprised if your rich condition were being caused by bad the diverter valve, so if your main goal is still fixing that, you can probably do okay on the bad valve for a while. If anyone has experience to the contrary, though, please chime in!

The only thing with the billet aftermarket units is that you have to service them regularly.. i.e. take it apart and clean/lube the piston. I think they recommend doing it once a year or so. The Bosch 710n is an updated version of the stock unit and a lot of Audi guys are using it.. I have one on my A4. It's good for 25psi and is low maintenance. My original one was 10 years old and still working fine.. Also I saw a web page where some guy did a test on all of the BPVs as far as response time and the units with rubber diaphrams (like the 710n) all came out on top.

However after saying that it is not for the technically challenged, you have to know what your doing or you could cause a lot of costly damage.

So glad I bought a car with stand alone and knock control already installed and set up! Always wanted it, never had the technical knowledge. Now I have the head start I needed to catch up and learn slowly.
