I did the same... for a while.
However the injector circuit is being driven extremely hard without resistors. And that creates a lot of heat - not good for >20year old circuits.
John, go do a spirited run, then touch the bottom of the DME - I'll bet you its quite warm.

Touch the floor under the DME. It's also hot. It's because the wastegate
is on the other side of the sheet metal.

Meh - my DME is usually laying on the passenger floor, on top of the carpets. No heat transfer from the wastegate there.

I am actually preparing to go stand alone, so the DME is becoming less relevant.. not to mention the engine is out of the car right now..
