Default "Tall people" mods

My interior is pretty stock ('87 951) with the exception of a 350mm momo steering wheel. Yesterday i put a 1.25" steering wheel spacer between the adapter and the wheel (picked it up from pelican parts).

What a difference! I'm 6'4" and can now get my knees under the wheel when entering/exiting, i don't feel like i'm completely stretched out when i'm driving, and i can press on the clutch pedal -almost- straight! Turn signal is a little weird, but i think i'll live... I think the steering column is one of the weak points on these cars, i can't believe a car this nice doesn't have tilt/telescoping columns.

Anyways, i thought i'd mention it because it wasn't something i had considered doing before, but it made a huge difference for me. Any other mods that help out for slightly taller people? Right now i'm pretty maxed out--seat is all the way back and down.

Yeah I need to get spacer, i keep hitting the whippers or turn signal when I turn the wheel haha. My knees are also really close to the wheel, thanks for the suggestion.

I bought the TC Racing quick release with a spacer and dished wheel. Made a huge difference. I also have my Sparco mounted to the floor and low. I can barely get my fingers under the floor pan and bottom of the seat. I can't get a clenched fist between the seatback and rear seat. I don't hit the sunroof even with a helmet on. I played with the seating position until it fit my 6'5" physique just right, though now few others can drive it. Even my 6'3" friend can barely push the clutch pedal all the way down.

It's really nice being able to drive a car like a normal person rather than having my legs splayed out like a $3 prostitute.

I installed a set of pre 85.5 sport seats in my car, non power. This lowers the seat a good two or three inches. It required a bit of extra work, but it was worth it.

Wow, I'm a hair under 6' and can't imagine having the seat all the way back.. You guys must dwarf the car when you get out!

Thanks for that bit of info. I've been planning to install a new wheel with a spacer, but the deepest I'd found was 1". Although I could probably use 2".... I'm 6'-10".

Ditto, but I can never seem to get the seat low enough, especially when wearing a helmet.

Yikes!
I found a 1" on ebay, but figured it was worth an extra few bucks to get the extra 1/4". A 1.5" or even 2" wouldn't be unreasonable at all, but i wasn't able to find one! Couldn't be too hard to make though?

I definitely plan to put the seat as low as possible when i get rid of the stock seats (some day). I'm fine as-is in the car, but with a helmet i have to take out the sunroof. At least the top part of my helmet is aerodynamic, right?

Mounting my sliders right to the floor and the side plates directly to the sliders. Should get me low enough in the car to comfortably wear my helmet...

Could you measure how far foward the TC Racing release moves the wheel?
I'm guessing it's around an inch but would like to know for sure.
Thanks.

I don't have an issue with the stock wheel, but I have the factory spacer behind the wheel.

I DO have an issue with the sunroof when wearing a helmet though (I am 6'3"). Using the early non-power sport seats seems like a plan. Is there a way to remove the motors from under my existing seat and lower it?

+1 Best thing I have ever done to my car. Really wasn't all that bad, just required a bit of patience.
