Cool, I didn't know that. I was actually thinking that PO had it changed and the person selling it didn't know.

my guess is for that Porsche cup series they would have made a fixed number of cars 10% more than they think they need then the few surplus cars would have hit the road ..
Funny how in the 80's i guess the market wanted electric everything roof sets windows etc ...
now most us want manual RS style cars with not even arm rests on the door trims

No sunroof, manual windows, manual steering, no AC were not uncommon for Euro market cars. However, these delete options are rare for US/North American cars, and extremely rare to unheard of on the later 85.5+ cars.
You see a non-sunroof coupe periodically, but you will never see a factory manual steering, no AC or manual windows on any 85.5+. I not sure you will even see a non-sunroof late offset car (87+) in the US. Anyone have one?

Mine is an 86 without roof, cruise or rear wiper. Its a sport script interior, but has power steering and power windows. I'm unsure about the AC as I do see where the lines would attach at the engine side of the firewall, but my guess is that the previous owner deleted it.

As stated lots of early 944's without sunroofs here in the states probably 1 out of 100 didnt have them. However the late '85 1/2 and up cars are much more rare, you see as this is a comfort market here in the sates Porsche Cars North America or the dealer groups at the time could not sell cars on the lot if they didnt have full options. Thus it turns into a demand, supply thing!!!
I have only personally seen 2 late turbos without sunroofs and a few more for sale. One was a '88 951 S in silver rose with plaid sport seats and 30K miles. There are several guys on this forum that have sunroof delete 951's
The car mentioned for sale above has been for sale for several months maybe even 6 months on lots of sights so there you go!

My late car came from the factory with no cruise, no power locks, and no rear wiper. But of course it came with a power sunroof. Since then, using factory parts I've deleted the power windows, Power mirrors, A/C (including a non-AC heater control unit from a 968CS), hatch release, power steering and a host of other things. Funny the only thing power left on the car is the sunroof. I still use it some and just don't like the manual latches, they look and seem cheap (personal opinion..........).

I had the impreshion that you had to special order your 951 without a sunroof which is why they call them sunroof delet. That being said you could order it without a sunroof in all markets.
AC on the other hand... I have a letter from Porsche from my early autocross days when I when I autoX'ed my 83 and wanted to remove the AC system stating "All porsche 944's had AC as standard equipment comming to the US market"
You could probably special order a car striped of everything if you wanted. Heck in 1988 you could probably special order a 962 if you hasd the money!!

I'm in Singapore and have a 88 Turbo S without a sunroof. She's got all the bells and whistles otherwise-a/c, electric windows, euro fog lights, 8 way electric seats, etc. No cruise control but with the relaticely short highways here, it's superflous anyway.

Wow. Owning a car in Singapore is very very expensive. Owning a 20 yr old car is even worse. Do you need special permit to own a car over 20 yrs old?
