I ordered my 1986 944 Turbo from my local dealer (Anchorage, Alaska) with every available option except cruise, sunroof, and "Turbo" rear script. I still own it (50k miles).

Before i bought it, while shopping for a 944T in Colorado, I asked a dealer in Boulder about ordering a car without sunroof, and was told I would have to put a substantial deposit down, because if I didn't take the car, they might have trouble selling it to some other buyer.

That makes sense, I have heard others say that in the 80's when ordering a special wishes car you had to either have a good relationship with a dealer already or bring lots of cash to make a big deposit. This way they knew you were serious.

My Turbo S -88 came without sunroof. As far as I remember all Turbo S -88 I've seen were sunroof delete but I never really looked for it so I'm not too sure about it..
