Perhaps when the 2X12 is flat on the ground it will become clear that it makes no difference if it can hold a static load of 10X your car and your house - as you are squished underneath maybe you will have enough time to determine - YOU ARE APPLYING THE WRONG PRINCIPLES FOR THE APPLICATION!
the sides and their fasteners are what you need to care about the strength of. A 2" plate steel will carry hundreds of cars load..... but I can still walk up and push it over - it makes no difference the static load strength, it is irrelevant.

I don't think the question is will a wooden 2x12 support the load. The question is will the ramp structure subject to a large side/torsion force collapse if the fasteners loosen or the side materials loose strength. It could really mess up the garage floor if this happened.
So why not use something that was designed for this purpose? They are not that expensive.

with proper bracing/design, these ramps would be fine.
you lose a lot compared to jack stands, but do you really think two jackstands offer more support side to side when the jack stand has less than 1 square foot of surface area to keep it steady?

I might use them, but I wouldnt be keen about driving up onto them. Hard to stay in a perfectly straight line like that.... And thats a long fall for a car. I still have to fix the damage from my first ramp experience.

In the photos it looks to me like you would need a perfectly flat floor. Some of the pics show the ramps shimmed to sit flat and not wobble. IMO they seem to be a solution to a problem that doesn't exist and makes side entry with an engine hoist or jack impossible. KISS is the operant phrase here. Driving onto ramps that slid on me was one of the most dangerous things I've done in my garage and I quit using them as a result. YMMV

Agreed that looks and is bloody dangerous but having said that I’ve been under cars with much worse supports but there’s still no better solution than a proper ramp/lift ... having said that we still need to use wood blocks just to get the ramp arms to clear the sills on most performance cars 
so is there a better solution for that for us???

During installation Beni was not happy with the colour blue it came in so he just couldn't resist pimping the ramp black as he has done with everything else new in the workshop that arrived in any other colour and that includes the container office in the corner of the top pic

maybe it would be better just to buy 2 20' steel i-beams, bolt them to the concrete and weld 1" plate to the end for ramps and put some traction material on them
