I am also interested. This car is a lot different than the ones I have messed with before so it would be nice to have an easier way of getting into it. Will you also put something out on what needs to be done to convert to MAF. I've never had a car without MAF so I've never had to deal with it before. Thanks a lot.

MAF code is a bit more work...
Currently the only thing I'm considering releasing is this DIY tuning with the AFM.

That will definitely get me started, and hopefully if you make this open source we can all add to it. We did this with the Audi Navi Unit. I have also helped in some other projects, but those weren't auto related. Maybe if this takes off we can set up a little site or a separate section on the Renn. Looking forward to the info.

I'm actually reading through your build-up and I think I just found something that I can do all winter. I love having a car that doesn't have to run. So much better than hoping I don't destroy my DD. I am not sure how many pages are in that thread, but I am only on page 3 and still in 06.

EDIT: No point in adding another post when I am just talking to myself at this point in the night... I guess that thread wasn't as long as I thought it would be. It ended almost a year ago. Definitely some good reading on that site as a whole.

Great idea! What is envolved other then a labtop? How much would all the equipment cost and in the end could I burn multiple chips for myself?

Would the setup work on the 968?

How is this alike or different from what Russell Berry was doing with Maxtune? Looks very similar.

http://www.maxhpkit.com/

I have been using his setup recently, and it (or something similar) seems like a great way to go. Definitely interested.

I need to update the my build-thread, a lot has changed since then. I wound up writting the new manual for the Translator Pro, and just haven't had time to really do any updates.

Olli, I am not sure I understand what you are asking...? For proper MAF conversion, the DME code needs to be changed.

Yes a laptop for ease of tuning, and I suggest the Ostrich 2.0 emulator. With it you never need to burn chips, and can rewrite it as many times as you like.
The Ostrich is ~$180, and for 24pin cars, a necessary socket booster is ~$40.
If you have a burner, you can burn as many chips as you like.

I have looked at the 968 .bin, but currently have focused on the 944. I plan on including the 968 in the future.

West, essentially this is the same, or very similar setup using freeware.
The software isn't quite as pretty as the aftermarket offerings, but it gives me a lot of freedom to work with.

There is a lot of info out there about basic timing tuning. I suggest leaving timing alone, until you are more comfortable with tuning.
