The RPM at 140 was 6717.

So, I have 283 RPM left until 7000. For one MPH you need 48 RPM 283/48 = 6 MPH. Add 140+6=146 MPH @ 7,000 RPM.

And you are correct in my case, I try to not go over 6300 RPM. I must have been involved in a drag race at the end of the back straight at VIR.

I would like to take this convo to my dyno sheet in particular. I would truly like to know if it was completely accurate.

Using the data log provided could it be extrapolated that a taller tire could achieve 145 at ~ 6700-6800 rpm. That is what is shown on that particular sheet.

I'll ask you here Brian what size tires were you running at that point in time??

Here's an easier test. At 3500rpm in 4th gear, what are most folks 951's doing?

I'm pretty sure 145 at 7 grand is capable and proven. My car read 149-150 at 6980rpm, and with 3-4mph speedo inaccuarcy (which is fair) that would have put my car at 145~

I just don't see how you think it is not capable. I wish I had my 951 running to post a video of it.

Lets get some more numbers aside from the one debating you can't do 145 in 4th gear.

I know for a fact my S2 is at 3200rpm in 5th, doing 80mph. I may even have picture proof of it, too. This would give my S2 a 175mph top speed at 7k rpm (however I have the stock redline of 6480rpm). I run 285/30/18 tires with a turbo trans and stock 5th.

mine runs about 3200@80 in 5th and you'll never pull 7k in 5th.

by my rough and most likely incorrect math, taking a 951 that has a factory top speed of ~150 (roughly), to get it to 192mph (7k in 5th with sid's tires) would take around 460HP.

bear, what size tires do you have?

Pretty steep assumption to say that I'd ever be able to see 7k in 5th in my 951. I have personally seen over 6400rpm in 5th gear at over 160mph. That was with 240whp. It is possible to pull 7k in 5th in about a 300whp 951. It will take longer then I care to hold, though.

The dyno is proof. The gps is proof. My speedometer is already off by 5 mph at 60mph and it gets worse from there. End of story.

Does Alex know what his transmission is yet or are we going to keep arguing?

BTW: my rear tires are 245/50/16 and smaller than stock diameter so maybe the speedometer would be accurate with right tires. Just like you could 145 in 4th under the right circumstances.

Exactly. Just because your car won't do it, doesn't mean someone elses can't.

Alex- Any word on the trans? I had started to think this was the top speed thread and not a thread about you and your transmission. But hey...if you have a S2 LSD trans, I'll trade you a turbo trans and some cash for it. I'll even deliver!

bear, what size tires do you have?
255/40/17 rear, 205/50/17 front.

mathwise it shows working but a stock 951 wouldn't come close to 192/5th.

how many folks are generating 460hp?

absolutely not. but a stock 951 will also never see 7k rpm.

we were talking about a 7k-capable 951 (with a chip) with some other mods that would allow it to get to such a speed if someone really wanted to run it out and put their life, license, and wallet on the line.

you bring up the need of major mods now but the op didn't reference tons of horsepower asked about a stock 951 hittinng 130-140 in 4th gear and many folks appear to think with the numbers presented, their 951 will do 145-150/7k in 4th gear.
