Lousy Boost Controller GReddy Profec B Spec 2
When I rebuilt my 944TS, my mechanic recommended that I install a GReddy Profec B Spec 2 boost controller. I already had a manual boost controller and was happy with it, but took the advice of my mechanic....my instinct was not to install an electronic control circuit in an already-operating manual control circuit.
It was installed less than a year ago and, in early June, I noted that, on my manual boost gauge, boost would go to 20-25 psig and I let off. Reprogrammed the unit again and nothing changed. I called a GReddy dealer and he said to install a new solenoid unit which I did and reprogrammed with the same result.
Took out the GReddy and reinstalled the manual boost controller and voila, I was again able to set my boost at 15 psig. I called Greddy for warranty information and was instructed to remove the unit and send it back to them for diagnosis. I asked them if they would pay for a rental while the controller was out and if they would pay my mechanic for his time.......no answer.
This is a laousy boost controller and GReddy has not yet honored their warranties.

the greddy profec is a beast to handle. I would recommend taking it to some one who has installed and set them before. It took me months to get my apexi AVC-R to where I wanted it

I hate my Greddy Profec B Spec 2. Complete pain in the *** to setup and then it seems to have a mind of it's own. I have to shut it off sometimes to get it to base boost of 15psi, no matter what I do, then it starts working again.
I'm going to replace it with a unit that works like I want it to. You know, set the boost to a particular level and it hits that level. Too much to ask for???!!!

No experience with the Profec B but way back in the day I had one of the original PRofec boost controllers (the "fuzzy logic" one with the stepper motor) in my Dodge Omni. Fancy piece of equipment, I tried it because a) I was having issues with the PCM controlling boost and b) I like electronic gadgets.
End result: it never worked right. It would consistently forget what it "learned" and would often get haywire boost.
From then on I either let the PCM control boost, or I go with a manual boost controller.

I have a Type S that works great and have never heard any complaints from anyone else. There is just a gain ****, and high/low boost ***** so very easy to adjust.

I've been running mine for a couple of years completely trouble free. Works great.
Maybe check your installation. Since you have to run vac. lines in and out of the passenger compartment, it's easy to pinch something. Also - check your grounds.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Profec-B. I also know a few local guys who run them on thier Hondas and Mistu's with rock steady boost.
These are the sort of complaints I often here about the AVC-R which I run. It's tough to get the boost dialed in but once you do it's steady.

I ran an e-01 for a couple years no problem, plus I could record and play back my A/F ratio since it served also as my display for myInnovate LC-1. I have it for sale since switching to the Vitesse piggyback which will now contol boost.

I've used an original profec B for years with no issues. No programming needed -- turn the **** up for more boost, down for less. Wherever it's set, the boost is rck solid. Can't speak re the "spec 2" but it would be a shame if they changed it.

I run an Blitz SBC i-D III Spec R and it's rock solid, and easy to use. An old Sport Compact Car test ran it against a bunch of other controllers and said it gave the sharpest performance and was a snap to use as well. No complaints with it at all.
