Or can you just put in several gallons, then drive to the gas station and fill up the rest? I'm just wondering how careful you have to be and why is it nessarly to keep a certain mix%. What happens if my mix is a little more than its supposed to be?

I've used zylene as opposed to race gas on a couple of occasions. Would run my tank close to empty prior to a DE/AX and would use a 5 gal container with 3 gals of xylene (approx $50/ Home Depot) pour the xylene in (carefully) and follow with 7 gals of 91 oct. Boosting octane rating to approx. 98.8. Total cost about $75. Compared to race gas locally at $9 per/gal, not bad.

Re the original question, I'd be more concerned about the clutch at that power level, if it's stock. That's about the level my stock clutch started slipping -- it was in good shape, just could not hold that amount of power.

Yeah I agree. From my readings on this forum, anything above 350hp will require a clutch upgrade.
