Default blow off valve failure

Just found out my blow off valve went bad what amount of HP loss have you seen with this failure?

Also what’s the best Aftermarket blow off valve to replace this with?

Hi Rene. I like the Forge BOV.

Stock Porsche OE blow-off for 993/996 with the brass-reinforced diaphragm works fine, too.

Trouble with the 951 BOV is the diaphragm was only fabric and failed frequently.

The 996/993 valves fail just as often. I have seen those valves bad in the 996TT's with as little as 3k miles on them.

Yeah the stock style valves are not very good (although popular). Go with a Forge.

I had the TT one on my car for a long time. There very reliable but not good if your running higher than 18lbs boost

Which Forge model? They have a zillion...

Are the Forge's that much better than the EVO ones that Lindsey sells...or about the same?

Go with the Stealth Black 007P. Looks just like the stock, only it's in a nice black enameled billet. I got mine from www.ttstuff.com for $135.

I really like the Turbosmart Kompact series. They're externally adjustable too. Right now I'm running their dual port and couldn't be happier, but they have a bypass version available too (the dual-port can be converted to BOV, bypass or both). Our cars take the 25mm outlet size. I had a Forge knock-off (no idea what brand) on it that the PO installed and the piston was sticking open. I wanted to try something different and saw the Turbosmart.

I have one from Lindsey that I am ahppy with, but i normally run a GFB hybrid blow-off. It recircs 50% of the pressure which keeps me from having running probs, but still sounds fantastic. Track time sees the Lindsey as there is no reeason to lose 50% pressure - you can't hear anything anyway.

I have the Evolution Motorsports one from Paragon. I like it, and I put Lindsey's bigger spring in there, so it'll hold a bit longer... I dig it.

How can you put a number on this? You'd have to stick her on a dyno with a bad BOV. I ran 14.2 on the quarter mile with a bad fuel pressure regulator... but a bad BOV... who knows? depends on how bad it is... just fix it!!!!

Interesting...I have the Lindsey one myself and got the extra spring but didn't install it. I'm about to have it all out doing my Vitesse MAF install in a few weeks - what exactly is the advantage of the tighter spring?
