What were your laptimes? ...lol...no, that's classic and great to see that car up and running. Can't imagine what the guy in the Prius thought when he saw you on the street!!

That car sounds great. Can't wait to see some track videos. Do you plan on dynoing it before going on the track? It'd be good to see if that car still makes 550hp.

F40 brakes are 12.9" two piece rotors with Brembo 4 piston brake calipers. The calipers are not specific to Ferrari and were used on a lot of cars and use a common brake pad.
Essentially the same size as a 993TT front brake setup at 12.8", and on par for what were considered large brakes back in the 90's.

Tony, you're close but a little off on the F40 calipers. Actually they're typically referred to as the F40/F50 calipers as the same caliper came on both models. The caliper itself is the size of the S4 caliper. Compared to the 993TT (Big Reds) the F40 caliper is not as tall i.e. if you were to compare the pad size you would see the 993TT pad is quite a bit taller but still the same width. The big difference between the S4 caliper and the F40/F50 is the S4 is radius-ed to accept a max size rotor of approx 304 x 32 mm (about 12" x 1.25") whereas the F40/F50 caliper is radius-ed to allow a rotor diameter of 355 mm (14")
The F40/F50 is 1-2 lbs lighter than a Big Red also. I couldn't tell you what diameter rotors were used by Ferrari on either the F40 or the F50. FWIW this was also the caliper used in the majority of the Brembo Gran Turismo BBK's and has 40/44 mm pistons as opposed the S4 and 993TT using 36/44 mm pistons.

The F40 brakes were 12.9" (essentially the same as the 993TT) on both front and rear, which by today's standards is not considered "big brakes" as lots of OEM cars have brakes this large (or larger). I'm running 15" brakes on my new race car.
The 993TT uses a tall FMSI D594 pad shape (65mm) vs the Brembo F40 which uses the D810 shape which has a shorter pad height of about 50mm.
It's very close to the same brake, although might even be closer to the 928 S4 caliper.

Seems to me that is what I said. The only real difference here is you are focused on rotor diameter while I'm focused on the caliper size. The F40/F50 caliper is quite a bit smaller and lighter than the the 993TT caliper. Both pads are 132 mm wide. The FMSI data puts the D594 at 75 mm tall and the D810 at 67 mm tall so the difference in swept area is approx 1056 sq mm (1.63 sq in) or about 11% less.
That said none of this addresses the (IMHO) much bigger difference for max rotor diameter. As to what rotor size the car this tread is about had can not be ascertained by simply knowing what calipers it had. The F40 caliper was readily available from Race Technologies. This caliper was often used in place of a 993TT caliper because it allowed for the larger diameter rotor. (the 993TT caliper maxed out a a 332 mm rotor diameter)
