I have been thinking about a s14 lately also, although I would do a built KA motor. I still don't think I could bring myself to sell the 951 for a 240 though. If I sold the 951 for anything it would be a turbo hardtop s2000, you can't beat that car IMO.

two of my buddies from college have/had some stupid (good stupid) 240s

one is a Q45 v8 with a single turbo + 300zx 5spd. i think it is over 500rwhp at only 5psi, still under construction

other was sr20det with a huge turbo. like +750rwhp at +30psi, now sold
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDzomql1wEE

video is old small turbo. i rode in the car, stupid fast and scary honestly

both fabbed and built in their own garages

fun cars for sure

Ditch the sr20, here's one of my friend's cars..S14 with a VG30 single turbo.

And what it runs on pump gas, DR, and low boost (15psi)

Wow hey thanks for all the contstructive feedback. I see the concensus is that these cars in standard from just aren't meant to be powered by high HP powerplants....Either that, ir they just don't feel as solid as a 951. I also found it interesting that you guys feel it's underbraked even with the 300z brakes which is a very common upgrade. Awesome thanks everybody!

This summer I'm looking to buy a 240sx with the SR20 swapped in. Been wanting one for years now, and they are going for really inexpensive prices...

My question: In your experience, how did you like the power of these motors versus the 951? Mine was lightly modded, and I plan on doing light mods to the sr as well.

Thanks

We had one here in Az that was track driven. With a good driver, good set-up and modest power it was fast. Very fast. The chassis are better than that appear and fit massive rubber.

If you're interested I have a good friend in the middle of a SR swap into his S14 and he's kind of frustrated with it and might let it go cheap...

I have a Q with that engine and it is phenomenal to drive, even stock...lots of power and torque anywhere in the rev range, but god is it a bitch to work on.

I have had the opportunity to drive 240s with SR20DET,RB20,RB25,RB26 and VQ35.The SR is a good motor and you can easily make 300-320WHP with it but if you want to push 400 out of it ,it will cost you a bit of money. The RB swap completely ovewhelms that car with power and they are so easy to make power out of. They throw the handlign off quite a bit and it requires extensive suspension mods to get the handling back.Actually my favorite swap is the VQ35.The lightweight aluminum engine can make good power and it does not throw the handling way off like the cast iron tank motors like the SR and RB.

I disagree with a number of you. The SR is a great engine and the 240 is a great chasis (not refined like the 951), they are fun and have great steering responce. A swapped 240 is a car that will make you smile every time you drive, you will have to overlook the horrible interior though. A stock SR with an upgraded intercooler, upped boost and exhaust will make very similar numbers to our 951s. Would I give up my car for one? HECK NO. Would I buy one? HECK YES!!!! I have helped my friend build his SR swapped 240 twice and I absolutely love it.

The 300z TT brakes were TERRIBLE. The worst I've ever felt/experienced in any sports car of it's day. My

That is one nice installation. Car looks great. That is one nice sleeper, please tell your buddy that he did a great job.

That is magazine material. Must have a great story behind the finished product.
