Seemed like the right thread to bump, despite the age...
Although slightly different topic!
Where can one find new Porsche bottom-end studs for the crank girdle? Anyone have PN?
I see there are RaceWare kits available but wondering if Porsche parts are less expensive, like they are with the head studs.

Voith, I assume those are the oversized (14mm, 9/16") studs that require the threads to be changed in the block? I have a set from Heritage but always interested in a spare set if Sam passes.

Used suds are probably ok, but finding a set might be a challenge, especially a set removed with a non-damaging stud puller.
Just checked -- McMaster has metric studs in all hardness classes, and in pretty granular length options.

$250 shipped. Very nice bolts, to me they look beefier than the 16vARPs I just got.
Mine are standard block side thread and finer head side, but I think the non threaded bit is just a little bit thicker (at least I got that impression, didn't measure). Bought them from Michael Mount for 8vT but later decided to 16vT.

I wonder if 944 head studs would be suitable to cut down and re-thread to work as main studs....hmmmmm...maybe not worth the time
I intend to use regular old Porsche head studs though.
(you know, if I don't suddenly change my mind about this engine and start to build something completely different, which I seem to do often )
