Which head studs??? 3.0L block and 2.7 head
Like the title says I have a 3.0L block and 2.7L head. I will go with ARP, but my problem is I don't know which ones to order with this mis-matched head/block combination. Any help would be great.
Thanks!

It depends on which block you are using. I used an S2 block which requires a 150 mm stud for a 2.7L head and is not normally stocked on the shelf (at least by Raceware). I had them make me a set @ $400 . The 968 block requires a 165mm stud. Check the depth of your current block. If it's about 80mm's then you'll need a 150 mm stud. If it's about 95 you'll need the 165.

We stock the Raceware 1047 for that conversion.

Mike,
I thought the 1047 was for the 968 block and 165mm's. I see you have that listed as an S2 and 968 8V conversion stud but the thread depth from the deck is different on the two blocks.....At least on the My 1990 M44/41 block. What do the 1047's measure in length?

you are right, you can quite a bit of pressure cranking on the studs!

I have an S2 block with the 2.5 8V head, which I suspect is the same thickness as the 2.7 head. I just happen to be pulling it apart this AM because it's on its way to Lindsey Racing for some machine work (small world, eh?). I just measured mine, and they are 165mm. They are longer than they need to be, and the one under the water neck had to be trimmed to get it to fit. I'd go with 150, I believe.

Well you would not need to use any aftermarket studs unless you wanted something a little higher strength, you would just need to install a 3.0 liter crank of your choosing to obtain the extra 300 CC!
A 1989 2.7 block is just a S2 block with a 2.5 crank!

I use the RW studs with a 2.7 head in a 968 block and the studs have the right length.
The only thing to think of is the depth of holes in the block as they may not have the same depth, this is why the WM states to use thread locker in case they don't bottom out.
