Default stand alone options

I know there are a decent amount of threads on stand alone. I am just curious who is running what. What did you need to do to get a base map ? What kind of problems did you run into ext.. Any and all information on running a stand alone will be helpful at this time.

I was looking at running a Tec 3R or mega squirt... but I am open to all options though.

Thanks,
Ian

I agree with Chris.

Support support support. Plus you can run any injector configuration you want from batch to full sequential.

Chris I finished assembling my bottom end yesterday so I am getting closer. Should be giving you a call in the spring.

Ian, definitely go with Tec from Chris, you will not be disappointed. My car was flawless with it and any questions I had Chris was there to answer. His product support is fantastic.

Have you considered VEMS? It has great (and working) features for a very competitive price. Just to name a few: up to 8cyl fully sequential inc. COP, WBo2, EGT, LCD, vehicle speed sensor input, warning beep depending on various things (EGT, CLT, O2 etc), bunch of programmable outputs and support for most trigger types including 951 stock trigger (without any sync issues).

Check here: www.vems.hu

I will be running HKS Fcon Vpro on my 3.0L. Our tuner here at the shop is telling me it's pretty much the best out at this moment and I get a big discount on it

I would stay away from it. I can assure you it's NOT the best out there (even for the price) and you will have a standaolen ECU that you can't access to. Only certified HKS tuner has access to it's dongle and software. It's like a Motronic only you can't tune it even when you want to learn how to do this.

And there's only a dozen or so dealers that have access to VPro ECU's.

I think Clarks garage has a 951 standalone forum .
I have 3 here for sale I will be putting one on my car soon but if i thought there would be a bit of interest i would configure all 3 to plug strait in or i would sell with trigger and full loom .If you search my profile you will find all the staff about them . but the best stand alone for a given person is always a balance of cost preferred features and local knowledge .

To make stand alone worth while you have to take an interest in some of the features that more viable to stand alone only.
like
multi coil
staged injection
water injection control
nitros control
anti lag
luance control
water pump / fan control
traction control
maps per gear .

If this stuff doesn't interest you its hard to justify the effort
but there are plenty of happy punters out there with it

some one shot me an e-mail telling me to go to Fairfield Motor Sports (here in Fairfield durr). Apparently they have a really nice stand alone system (didn't say which) for a good price.

I talked to chris white, I am hoping we can work some thing out. Chris seems like a great guy, plus if I buy a stand alone from him he will be my DE instructor hahah.
