PROJECT: Some bits and pieces that are due to get together soon :)
Since there are a few project threads going on I thought I'd show mine.
Long block is sitting in the shop awaiting on these parts to arrive.
Specs:
3L dry sleeved 2.5L motor w Deckplate, Knifed 3L crank, dowelled girdle,
line bored, re-threaded for bigger headstuds. Oil squirters installed.
Custom Wet sump.
High flow Race head and big cam.
Modified stock inlet/plenum.
66mm custom throttle body.
Custom fuel rail.
All new s/s fuel lines.
044 pump.
160lb inj.
Adj fpr.
2.75" I/C pipes.
Large custom front mount I/C.
Borg Warner Hybrid ETT turbo. Closest to the S362 in spec (or GT3582r)
Full one off custom headers, crossover, turbo mount.
Full 3.5"-5" custom exhaust.
LINK G4 engine management.
CDI ignition.
Wasted spark.
Probably other stuff I can't remember. This is the latest and hopefully last incarnation of my 3L build. Having had many issues over the last few years which I'm not going to discuss, I hope that this will now finish a chapter in my book and stop or slow the spending/bleeding for a while. This motor will be assembled and engine dyno'd probably in 2 weeks time. It will have a map for normal high oct pump and E85. I know that the build will be the very best and it will comfortably take some serious boost. Of course I'm curious to see just what this combination can do, I'm also nervous enough not to have it pushed to 40psi even though I'm sure it could take it.
Once the numbers are in and a chart provided I will post. Then it's only a matter of having it sent all the way down here and installed....to go and have some FUN!!!
PS can I send the chart to the 'Fest?

Actually Bill, the biggest problem was making them for a RHD vehicle that has the steering shaft on that side. The Headers for RHD and LHD are the same which is a bit odd for Porsche. You guys have to put up with that funny little kink that allows for our s/shaft, and we have to have a 90 degree turn on the crossover to allow for your s/shaft.

Ah. Well, they definitely look like some high quality units. I'm thinking I'll eventually try to make a similar setup with a single merge collector instead of the two flange crossover connection deal the factory pipes have. Are they going to be ceramic coated or anything?

Well at this stage we figured in this guise it's still good for over 500whp and that's plenty. A Nissan 2.6L reputedly hit 687whp with one of these but who knows at what sort of boost. We can always change the wheel later if it's not enough.

little turbo ??? haha ha the hotside can cook a chook without clipping it's wings but its good to see someone getting a bit more adventurous with turbo selection also good to see you treat that engine to some of the treats that was for the twin cam

Someone else suggested that the T3 turbo wasn't big enough to get real power without massive boost. This may be correct but these turbos are very strong, spool better than the bb stuff surprisingly and we can change the wheel to bigger if we really want. The main focus for this is the track and SuperSprint events. I think by increasing Everything in size on this motor that it will prove to be a good combination. It will be interesting how this goes with the S2 r & p. Seems like most with big torque motors feel that this would be too short. I've had it on before with previous versions of a 3L motor and it seemed ok but that was never at full boost or rpm so we shall see.
It's great to see that there are a few people still with their projects on the go. Bruce's looks to be a massive endeavor and one I'm subscribing to.
