Default New LS1 951 POC Race Video Sunday 12.07.2008

Some new LS1 951 in-car race video with the POC from last weekend. This is the blue group race on sunday 12.07.2008

PS> the first half of the video is somewhat boring since I started out on the pole. The action begins in the 2nd half.

Enjoy:

He was thinking he wanted to pass me.... badly...

He's a great driver that came in too hot and couldn't stick the pass. I simply collected him and was forced off the track ending my race.

No biggie. I'd race with him anytime. It was a great race up until that point.

DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT! I watched the video against my better judgment. I know better than to watch videos with a LS swap and I went and did it and now... I am jealous and want one! Especially since I have a car that I can drop one in which makes it ever worse. Can't wait to finish school so I can throw some money into dropping one in my Red one cuz you just sold me on the idea.

I can't seem to play it. Real player can't locate it? I usually don't have a problem viewing your vids Tony, not sure what's wrong?

BTW Tony, I notice you're running 17"s x 275 / 315 but don't appear to have wider guards? I see that you have some AIR panels but maybe it's just the angle as they don't look wider than stock.

How a 911 owner's ego couldn't swallow being beat by a 944.

By the way, was it just me or did the white 944 with the blue racing stripes have really skinny rear tires?

It's a .wmv file which means Windows Media Player. I'm not sure if Real Player will play .wmv files by default. But you should be able to play it with Windows Media Player which, if you have Windows installed, should have installed by default.

Can you find the file on your computer?

The rear fenders are rolled a little and pulled out a little with a fender roller :-)

The fronts are 1" wider fiberglass, but before the fiberglass front fenders, I was running a 275 in there with no problems (aftermarket 2.25" coil overs). I am planning to go much wider in the front (I'm going to try to fit a 315 in there) here in the near future.

Yes. It was a 944 spec car (which is N/A). I'm not sure but the spec tire is somewhere between a 225 and 245. I'd have to look it up.

So on stock guards do you think I could fit 285s up front? I've trial fitted 295s MPSCs up there on a 10" wheel and they just fitted. Didn't drive it though, just down off the lift onto the ground.
I am also curious how the larger fronts will affect slow to mid speed turn in? I understand that for our cars it's important to keep the front and rears pretty close in width but by going up to 285s in my case and 315s in yours to increase front grip and eliminate push understeer in high speed corners, will this have a counter effect on turn in?

I have 275's up front with no problems on stock fenders (I have 1" wider fenders now, but I was running the same wheel on the stock fenders for some time). I don't know about larger than 275 up front with stock fenders. I'd like to get a 295 up front, but they don't make a 295 in a NT01. The next largest size is a 315.

I plan on taking off my rears and putting them on the front, then spacing out as necessary (spacing out because my wheels were widened on the inside). Hopefully with around 2.75" negative camber, 2.25" strut springs, and 1" wider front fenders I get the 315's to fit...

As far as turn in goes, these cars need more tire up front. I'll deal with any negative turn-in issues by tweaking the back width if necessary. More front tire means more speed on the tracks I run.
