I dont know what the hardness is, probably 45-50A I think but thats a guess. I have barely any movement from my transaxle, now that the axle are in I have to really heave on it to get it to move.

ive checked out quite a few of these cars w/ nice looking mounts and the trans still moves side to side. After breaking a brand new axel- DS of course- i made a trans bar but it made too much noise and rattled around too much. I found a used solid mount and installed it as an experiment. Been in the car about two years now and i love it. No broken axels since either.

I find it pretty entertaining that people find the distinction between race car and street car so black and white when in reality the only distinction in many cases is the presence of a cage and or other safety features required for wheel to wheel racing. I know many DE/street cars that are every bit as much of a race car in terms of set up as the wheel to wheel road race cars. The noises and creaks that some may find embarrassing on a street car I find exhibit the character that makes older cars fun.

some people dont like the noise of a aftermarket exhaust or the rough ride of an aftermarket suspention and that is fine but I have yet to find a performance modification that was not "streetable".

some may argue the sold trans mount could cause damage to the trans or the torque tube but I've not heard of many transmissons being torn off their mount. the weak cross bar will likly flex and bend before the cast trans housing breaks.

Seems pretty straight forward to me – a ‘real’ race car is built to go racing at the track and a ‘real’ street car is built to drive on the street. The ‘wannabe’ race cars are the ones that I find entertaining. Louder, but not much faster, way stiffer but not much if any better cornering potential, and full of extra added noise….but in the end not much faster than stock (kind of like the typical Camaro…. )
Its not my goal to **** on other people’s projects – but I do want the other potentially interested folks to know that a solid mount will add noise (and in my humble opinion not a nice noise) and it will not add any better performance than a stock mount that is in good condition.

I'll take some gearwhine over broken axles anytime. I'm sure the stock rubber mounts are ok on stock cars, but when you double the power with some sticky, wide rubber, I'm going for the solid mount.
I drive my car hard and, yes there is some racing involved.
And there's some very fast street camaros and firebirds down here.
