WHY are you tring to do burn outs in the rain! God-dang I can get my 944 NA to spin the tires in the rain if I stand on it coming out of a corner. Rain = less grip and this has nothing to do with car.

Yeah I am a ***** with this car. I have too much respect for it. I feel as though I'm waiting for the car to respect me enough to push it or to drive in the rain. I don't want it to break-down on me. I just drive on Sundays for now. My main transportation is the Subway system. It stays nestled in a car port with a cover over it a few miles from where I live.

To tell you the truth, I ditched owning a car for the past 2 1/2 years until now. I'm a bit of a green thumb.

1986 944T - No traction control, no anti-lock brakes, no airbags and platform designed in the early 1970s (primative computer modeling, if any)
.
If those are the features you are worried about, then maybe the part thats obsolete is the part sitting behind the wheel.

Traction control = right foot
ABS = right foot
Airbags = wear seat belt.

Hey the 86 is not a modern car, but it is not crap.

BTW... my 88 Turbo S has Dual Airbags and ABS. Maybe you just need an 87 and later car.

Also the 944 has a more advanced rear suspension than the mustang GT.
Indepenant vs stick axle. How do you like that.

Not trying to spin the tires. Car has so much ridiculous power that can easily happen in normal driving. Having a turbo that comes on all at once is a huge problem. Read about the accident rates for 930s. They have the same problem.

Traction control makes this go away. The computer ensures that I don't get into trouble.

Sounds to me like you picked the wrong turbo. You should not need band-aid you power deliever issues with a computer.

The rear engine Porsches are pigs aren't they? If you don't know how to drive a 911 especially in the older cars it's easy to understeer or oversteer them into the ditch. The 951 has neutral handling, it's much more forgiving.

Sounds like a car control clinic my solve your traction problems.

Just because someone has a Porsche, it does not make them a good driver.

I would not say the 930 was the problem, it was the rich coked up drivers.

When my car works I'll drive it thru any weather and it was designed to work in all conditions. A wet march day with p-zeros was the only time i gave it a 2nd thought.

This thread is pretty funny. The 951 is my oldest car, yet aside from the lack of ABS (it's an '86) it is the most modern vehicle I own. I actually bought a modern replacement once, but sold it after 10 months. Just wasn't as engaging.

I guess were pretty lucky that drivers lived through the 70s and 80s when ABS, traction control, EBD, etc... weren't available. No doubt modern technology has made cars more safe, but at the same time it has resulted in drivers that are less capable, less situationally aware, and less in-tune with their vehicles.

I'm also afraid of the rubber under the hood cracking. The speed sensor, reference sensor getting bad. My car is a princess and beautiful, it deserves that respect, doesn't it?
You must have an entire closet full of skirts. The DME is under the passenger seat floor. If the TPS sticks, replace it, it's broken anyway.
Your car isn't a princess, though it would appear that it may be driven by one. ROFL

ROFL... I have on occasion looked the forecast and said do I want to get the Porsche dirty... Followed by a slap upside the head and then I drive it... It has wipers, I use RainX and always buy tires that have better than average wet traction... No skirts here (although maybe a kilt)

Now my TR6 on the other hand, when it rains.... My left leg is always wet. You would think that the Brits would figure out how to make a convertible top that seals halfway decently... I mean it always raining there...
