Default Blown HG...Knock sensor gone wrong??

Well,

my HG blew, and I'm currently working on getting everything back together. Just doing some underhood cleaning and re-wrapping insulation on the wirng, I noticed my knock sensor wiring was sheared completely, the only thing holding the sensor and harness together is the insulation! I'm thinking perhaps this could have been avoided all together.....Prob wishful thinking, but I was always wondering why my HG blew at just a 20psi spike? There are other reasons, but this could def. have been one of them!

CHECK THAT 20+ YR OLD WIRING!! lessons to be learned....

Also, ISV wiring as well...

The knock sensor? It plugs into the block underneath the intake mani. It's the rear-most sensor

Those pics are a great visual of what also happens in the reference sensor plug and why there are so many hot start threads.

All my original injectors clips looked like that under the hardened boots. many others too. I re-wired them. That worked for a while, until my coolant fan wires fried a few more under the dash, necessitating a complete re-work.

Yea, I went through all the wiring and wrapped up the exposed areas with some electric tape. I need to re-wire the knock sensor now and the wires going to the ISV. Then....

Not going to do it. they're touching eachother. grounding out. Wrapping them together just exacerbates the issue. has to be re-done.

There must have been some confusion somewhere here haha. The knock sensor and ISV I am REDOING...... In regards to electric tape, I was just using that for the TPS sensor for example where the wiring is fine, but the black insulation has crumbled away
