So, be honest, is the covered switch too much? I installed it as the switch for Vitesse's race gas map, and the serial port for the SMT6. I didn't want to leave it on by mistake, but too much? Talk to me Goose...

no I don't think so.

I think it looks great and has real function. Two things required by all porsches. Funny this thread should come up. I was just talking to john and he was warning me about attaching a switch to the coding plug. lol.

precisely.

he said that having a direct switch like that can be dangerous if it gets bumped accidentally and the proper fuel isn't in the tank ect.

I still haven't figured out weither or not im going to fit a swtich to the plug or not yet.

I'd like it better if it were the real deal, not an auto parts store version.

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...evswitches.php
or
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...eatonGuard.php

And a corresponding high quality switch: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...leswitches.php

Or something like a pull to unlock switch: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...elswitches.php

But that's just me. Then again, I'm prior military.

Does your laptop use a serial port for the SMT, or are you using a USB converter? I just got a SMT from John and am looking for a suitable solution for a USB converter.
