Seeping mls head gasket

Does anyone take off the rivets to make sure there is no binding?

It got worse, now its also leaking on the other side. I checked the torque on two of the nuts i can still get at and they are still right on. The damn thing was supposed to be coated so and required nothing. If i have to take it apart im trying something different.

If you are 100% sure that the cylinder sealing middle layer in the MLS gasket doers not overlap the surrounding middle layer, then I would re-torque the cylinder head, by taking one nut off at the time (in the torquing sequence), lubricate the thread and then torque it to 80 ft-lb in one continuous motion.
If that turns out to be inadequate, then I would repeat the exercise except to 90 ft-lb.
If that is inadequate, well then ... off with the head.
IMO, this may be the problem even if checked for flatness. Careful use of a razor blade would be better.

Your first pic looks like it's pretty close to the main coolant passage to the head. I have heard of other people having sealing issues with the MLS in that area. I have also seen advice from a respected engine builder on here that suggested using a very thin bead of silicone around the passage opening on the MLS gasket. Not sure about the second pic. My MLS has been holding good for about a year now, torqued to 85ft.lbs.

Get some Barrs leak or other sealer. I used another brand of sealer recommended by Cometic. I put this in my 30K motor to get the gasket to seal. Garrity the engine builder has done this whenever a cometic gasket leaks.
Quoted from a Cometic gasket drag racer:
Dont worry! It is very common for racers to use bars leak. Almost eveyone I know who runs copper gaskets has to run it. I put some in mine every other race last year ( I drain the water every race), wether it leaked or not. I usually torque mine to 100lbs and then after it has ran go back and retorque them once or twice more. Some people reccomend putting about 10lbs more on the outer studs. The last time I done mine I done the center at 100 and the ends around 110. If you take them to 100lbs and they leak just run a bottle of the bars leak in it. Put it in and let it run for awhile and you will see it seal up right in front of your eyes.
