+1 I agree with both Lorax and gt37vgt..... Its awesome they finally found a solution to the twisting of the axles. Bummer it had to come from a corvette. The only style of vet worth owning is the late 60's c3 stingray vets. Mmmm bad *** specially in nasa blue! Me like! Me like!

333pg333: What would it take to mount the GT2 tranny to our cars?

the corvette transaxle is a T56, with a diff mounted directly to it, so plenty strong, and easy to get even stronger, its a very good/cheap solution, but it requires massive mods.

I dont like the idea of rebuilding the entire rear end suspension etc, my car has license plates, so rebuilding the floor to take a new tranny, sure... changeing entire rear end for tubular stuff? big nononono from the DMV if I get stopped, and rather hard to get back to oem quickly.

I have been thinking hard about the T56 wannabe transaxle instead of the GT2 plans though, as it costs 2k, vs 14k.

I here that boxter boxes are not bad and probably the most cost effective modernt sequential box and not as heavy as the gt2

well I have a boxster, and kinda pulled the tranny to check how alike they are. and they are very alike, 3 bolts lign up actually. the question is though, is it strong enough? its bigger at least.

the pics has been showed before, during the summer when we tried to figure out what to do.

it sucks to goto the work of mounting the boxster tranny, to find out its to weak.

If you want to see some bullet proof stub axels take a look at what Porsche installed on one of their 924 GTP cars

Not sure what transmission Porsche used but here it is. I believe that it is a locked diff.

Anders,

I don't know about the strength of the Boxster trans, which is similar to the 996 trans I believe, and made in Japan also. But I'm hearing from racers that they don't stand up well to racing. It seems to be heat related, so perhaps solvable with a pump and cooler if the unit itself is strong enough.

986 5 speed is aisin iirc, 6 speed is getrag, while all 987 is aisin iirc?

if its just heat related a tilton , a huge cooler, and a fan will sort that. if its strength.. it wont
